Are you a member of a course and only use it for the driving range? I was thinking of joining this course, it's on my drive home from work. It's around 55 $ a month and it's unlimited range. The course isn't all that, so i was wondering if anyone has the same situation.

Not a member but I've looked at it. I just can't justify the cost. I tend to hit small buckets when I practice now so I don't think unlimited balls would be helpful.

my friend works in a driving range.
I get free golf balls, and he gets swing tips and a hand counting up the money at the end of the say.

55 dollars a month.
How much is a large bucket at the range? 10 dollars?

Will you go to the range more than 5 times a month?

I pay $5 for a large bucket of used balls. There's another range probably 4 miles from the one I go to and they charge $9 for a large and they're rock hard range balls. I have no idea how they're in business.

rocks are more consistent than random used balls.

10 euro is what it costs over here, but the balls tee themselves up (pretty cool)

Those tee up machines are a nice to have, but they occasionally jam, at least the ones I encountered.

Initially, I didn't like the bring your own balls and use our range for free in England, but after awhile, I grew to really like it and I really didn't mind picking up balls.

Now that's a deal right there!! Assuming the range will be around for 2 years.

200 balls a session?

That's a bit much don't you think? Can you maintain your swing for all those shots?

My range pass was only $75 but thats cause I got a package deal that has green fees, cart pass and to add the range to that was only another 75.

200 balls a session?

Yep. Back in HS during training I used to be at the range for roughly 3-4 hours.

I usually spend roughly 2 hours or so at the range these days when I go. A good chunk of those are 100 yard > wedge shots but still probably hit roughly full swing 100-150 balls with irons, woods, driver.

This is true, but they're still like hitting rocks, which I don't like. I'd rather loose yards (which isn't too much really) on a used titlest than hit a rock. Plus, he's pretty good about getting rid of the really beat ones.

Find a course where you can get a "range plan" or something similar. You just pay a set amount per year for range balls.

In my bag:
Titleist 910 D3 9.5 Degree
TaylorMade R11 3 Wood 15.5 Degree
Adams A12 19 Degree
Cleveland CG16 Tour Irons 4-PW

Taylormade rac Gap 52 Degree, Cleveland CG15 56 Degree, Cleveland CG14 60 Deg

Odyssey 2-Ball

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
