Its always good to have a routine down of play practice practice play. I was wondering how often people play and how that affects their Handicap.

2010-Handicap 13
1) I Practice my short game twice a week and before playing 18 holes.
2) I Hit the Driving Range Once a week and before playing 18 holes.
3) I play one practice round during the week on a par 68 course(ususally only get about 15 holes in).
4) I play once a week on a regulation par 72 course.

2009-Handicap 19
1) I Practice my short game once a week
2) I Hit the Driving Range Once every 2 weeks.
3) I played once every 2 weeks on a regulation par 72 course.

2008-Handicap 28
1) No short game practice
2) I Hit the Driving Range Once every 2 weeks.
3) I played once a month on a regulation par 72 course.

2007-Handicap (none, guessing 40)
1) No short game practice
2) I Hit the Driving Range Once a month.
3) I played once every two months on a regulation par 72 course.

I play twice a week on average...sometimes 4 times a week, other weeks just once.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

Range every other day
If i'm living at home i'll putt/chip every other day too
But at school i'll be lucky to practice chpiping/putting once
Not paying 10 bucks to use a practice area out of principle

I play once or twice a week, but have no set schedule for practice. I'll usually practice for a couple days after my lessons, and then go play. I do hit wedges a few days a week in my yard though, so I'm getting practice from 70 yards and in on a regular basis.

The lack of practice is probably why I've been stuck at a 22 handicap for a while, but lately, it's been getting better.

Unfortunately I couldn't say my regime has been as neatly categorised than yours

2006-2010- HC-11->7.9
1/ Bigger garden, huge amount of practice for shots up to 80 yards
2/ No Memberships, playing a few rounds in the summer
3/ Playing some better courses in the summer when I have time

2003-2005- HC-17->11
1/ Range weekly in summer
2/ Short game practice at course
3/ Playing increasing variety of courses
4/ Membership to Par 71 course in summer (record 79)

2000-2002- HC 24->17
1/ Range weekly in summer
2/ Short game in garden
3/ Five day memberships at par 66 course (record 78)

1998-1999- HC N/A First round 104 Par3!
1) Range weekly in summer
2) Short game in garden from time to time
3) Par 3 weekly in summer

Play -- 1-2 times a month on average, 3 times if I am really lucky.

Practice -- 1-2 times a year. Usually only in the spring to get the swing back after taking the winter off. I will hit a small bucket on my lunch hour every once in a while just for something to do. And I will hit balls before I play and putt a little, but I would hardly call either actual practice.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I play 1-2 times a week, I'll go to the range whenever I get the chance, which is like once every two weeks.

2013 Goal:

I normally play 2-3 times a month during April-October and maybe a few more times in the other months. However, this year, I've only played 2 18-hole rounds, 3 Captain's Choice tournaments and 6 9-hole league rounds total. And the Captain's Choice tournies turn into a half-drunk fest by the turn and go downhill from there. So, I'm well behind my normal pace for this year.

I "practice" somewhere around 6 times a year. But practice for me is tagging along with someone else, getting a small bucket, and spending half the time helping them with his/her swing. And usually donating half the small bucket for them to hit. I never make it to the chipping/putting green. And I don't warm up before a round, other than playing some sort of chipping game with my golf partner(s) while we wait on the first tee.

In May I practiced twice a week, but only got in 9 holes because I kept getting rained out. Have two 18s so far this season in June.

Have gotten off track lately. Tested out wedges partial/full and made distance card two weeks ago, then didn't pick up clubs for 9 more days.

Played Par 3 Nine on Tuesday, will play my third 18 tomorrow morning.

Ideally...
* I would have short practice sessions at range once-twice a week (alternate short-game and one full shots).
* Practice swing drills and chipping/putting at home once-twice a week in evenings.
* Go to gym and work on strength/power a couple of times a week.
* Play 18 about six times a month.

Reality: Only get three of these activities in same week.

Work schedule has lots of loose ends from the spring, getting this and that off agenda. Indecision by others at work causes delays. Also in process of refinancing house, and negotiating pay raise for extra project I manage at work.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I play 18 holes pretty much every other day and both weekend days. When I'm not not playing I'm practicing, and my handicap has gone down from like 10ish in March to what it is now.

I hit a bucket almost every day, and every day I hit a bucket I Chip around the green for an hour.

I play a round of 18 at the par 3 course where I practice and take lessons two or three times a week. I play 18 at a regulation course maybe two or three times a month...

I only get to play about once a week these days, 18 holes on a tour caliber course... but I practice at least 2 more times a week for about 90 minutes each which consists of about 30 minutes hitting balls or drills, and at least an hour working on short game and putting.

When I was a +2.4, I was playing 5-6 rounds a week, and spending another 2-3 hours 3-4 times a week working on my short game... oh the days of not having any responsibility

Cheers, Allan

I play 1-2 times a week. I never practice, other than warming up for my rounds. I want to practice more but I live quite a stretch from my nearest course and I don't have a car

My schedule is pretty much straight forward. I am still new to the golf world, but so far, my practice time has shown some nice results. I stick to the same schedule, weather permitting of course. A typical week for me is the driving range on Sundays, short game practice on Mondays, and practice round on Tuesday. Wednesday is back to the range, short game practice on Thursday, and I get in rounds on Friday and Saturday. I know it sounds like a lot, but I work from home. There are some decent tracks in my neighborhood that are very inexpensive. I'm only 25 and I'm not married. Besides my daughter and my job, which I work from home, I kind of have a lot of free time.

Play about 3-4 times a week but usually one of those rounds is bouncing around from hole to hole and just getting in as many holes as i can and usually dont keep score just a practice round per say. (hit two or three shots from a trouble spot and two or three chips or putts) Probably two bags of balls a week and couple 45 minute putting sessions depending on the week...Handicap has gone down from a 12 to an 8.8 in three months since i started playing a lot....a better career allowed me to do this...
