Well the Bengals have another reality show star on the roster. No other team wanted him - that should speak volumes, yet leave it to Cincy to step up and add yet another distraction to the locker room. I guess they didn't learn a lesson from Corey Dillon, Chris Henry, and I could on.

You think you saw temper tantrums in Dallas when he would ream Romos butt after getting over-under thrown, with Carsons accuracy issues, that was nothing to what lies ahead.

But with the Steelers doomed to start 0-4 due to Bens sexapades and Cleveland not much of a threat... yet. Baltimore is so-so due to injuries already. So really its Cincy's division to lose.

Steelers won't start 0-4. Nice try.

The Bengals are - and continue to be - morons. Good to see.

They can have him. He is a mediocre player on a mediocre team. Good luck.

Very practical signing for the Bengals IMO. When you consider how good TJ Housh was as the no.2 WR in Cincy between 2006-2008 (90, 112, 92 receptions respectively), TO has a decent amount of upside. I know that Carson was relatively healthy during this period, so it's probably a stretch making this comparison. Still, it's a positive sign for TO. I don't think 80 grabs is that much of a stretch for him, considering Chad is going to be the one drawing double teams. But it's good to see that ESPN's manufactured consent is alive and well on these boards!

Also consider how cheap they got him. This is his 1 year contract:

60 catches – $333,000

100 catches – $333,000

900 yards – $333,000

1300 yards – $333,000

10 TDs – $333,000

14 TDs – $333,000

It escalates to only about $2 million. He's definitely worth the gamble at this price. Did you guys see how horrendous their WR2 and WR3 play was in 2009? I'm guessing no.

I'm a Colts fan, but Ownes being a Bengal was a good idea. The only reason he probably signed with them, was because him and Ochocinco were friends; and he probably just wanted to play.

All negative opinions of TO are definitely justified at this point. But given their need for a receiver who can be effective in single coverage, this move made sense. Don't forget that TO had 55 receptions for 829 yards and 5 TDs for the lowly Bills last year. He can still play.

He's still a good player, but he's no where near as good as he was with the 49ers nor the Eagles. When he was with the Bills, I don't think he was looked at for his full playing potential; and he's still a good Wide Receiver.

Bengals will lead the league in tweets on twitter, that's for certain. Even though they picked up Antonio Bryant, TO is nice addition to the WR corp. Carson Palmer is the perfect QB to deal with TO and Chad. I can see him telling them both to shut up in the huddle if they whine too much. Marvin Lewis was a bit nervous adding another drama queen to the team, but I think TO makes them better and it seems Chad is accepting his role as Robin of the dynamic duo.

T.O. isn't mediocre. He is one of the best receivers in the history of the game. Sure he is declining, but he is still better than most. And Cincy isn't as mediocre as you think.

Those are just his bonuses. He is earning a $2 million salary. If he reaches all the incentives he gets $4 million.

What about Corey Dillon? He was fine when he left Cincy. Henry was an idiot. Ced Benson seemed to turn out pretty good.

I agree T.O. isn't mediocre. But one of the best wide receivers in the history of the game? No way. And I agree Cincy isn't mediocre...they're way worse than mediocre.

All time, sure, he's very good. Top 5 easily. But in 2010? Mediocre.

I think Cincy overachieved last year, but only time will tell. They have a good QB, a good receiving tandem, good running back, but a bad defense.

He will probably get the 60 catches and maybe 900 yards. Everything else is highly unlikely.

Dillon had one good year in NE after he left Cincy.

I think you have it backwards. He is 3rd all time in receiving TDs and receiving yards.

I think he is still above average. He still has the skills to be a starter on almost any team. Buffalo is pathetic all around so it would be a down year for him last year.

I think Cincy overachieved last year, but only time will tell. They have a good QB, a good receiving tandem, good running back, but a bad defense.

I didn't know bad defences came in 4th in the NFL is total ypg and 6th in the NFL in scoring d. We must have different definitions of bad. They need a little help in passing D, but they aren't facing any offensive juggernauts in the AFC North. It is a running division and they are good against the run.

He will probably get the 60 catches and maybe 900 yards. Everything else is highly unlikely.

I also doubt he will get his second level escalators since the Bengals want to remain a running team. If he hits 60 catches and 900 yards he would be in the top 30 receivers in the league. That is hardly mediocre.

TO will be second all time in receiving td's, unless Moss has 9 more td's than him. He will also pass Issac Bruce for 2nd all time on receiving yards. How is he not one of the best receivers of all time?

I've never liked TO's attitude and root against him but as a player. But, he's been incredible and put up "all time" type numbers. I hate it but it's true (kinda like Tiger, he's amazing, I hate it but he is).

All negative opinions of TO are definitely justified at this point. But given their need for

This is one of the best points in this thread. TO and Chad have always been double teamed. They may not be as good as they once were but you are going to have to pick one to double and both will be effective against a single. Personalities aside, this was a good signing for the Bengals. I have this feeling that TO will not be as disruptive as he once was....

I don't quantify any player based solely on statistics. His numbers are impressive but that alone does not make him one of the best of all time. There are plenty of receivers out there who I would consider better than him because they bring the right attitude to the game along with impressive numbers.

And with all due respect Jamo, I don't think I have it backwards.

There's no point arguing with someone's

personal preference I guess, and I'm with you on TO's attitude-I can't stand him. But, by any objective standard he is one of the best receivers ever. Kind of like Ty Cobb, there really isn't anything positive to be said or found about the man-but you can't disrespect his game. I'm not saying he's the 2nd best receiver ever because he'll be 2nd in some major stats, they don't tell 100% of the story (and they don't factor in his numerous drops-plus not adjusted for era). But he's talented as a receiver-a talented psycho crybaby receiver.
