hey guys this thread goes out to fellow and past owners of this clubs as well as people who first transitioned from a cavity to blade. i went from cleveland cg golds to callaway x 20 tours. i decided id jump on a set of 695's when i found them pretty cheap on ebay. my iron play is my strength, and as ive jumped sets and dropped my handicap im feeling ever more confident but still a little nervous going to an mb club. id like to hear what curve others experienced, thank you!

any shot, outside of the sweet spot, is going to hurt your hands.

says the guy with x-18 irons, lol. Not every shot outside the sweet spot is going to hurt your hands.

Easy to knock the guy because he's play X-18 irons, but seriously, maybe he use to play muscle backs and that's how he knows. In fact, maybe he hurt his hands so much he had to move to the X-18s...

Maybe he has but I dont hit every shot on the sweet spot and Ive never had my irons hurt my hands on any shot. Although they have a muscle cut Im not sure if that matters really.

I agree that not every off center shot will hurt... but honestly I think he was exaggerating just a bit. With the move to muscle backs, I think you'll find some shots will hurt your hands more than they would with a cavity back club... Says the guy playing Hogan Apex Plus irons.

Its funny that you care to judge my ball striking ability by the clubs I play. Maybe, when I was a high handicapper, like yourself, they fit my game. Maybe I have played several recent rounds with the Titleist Blades to help me choose between AP2's and 710 MB's or CB's.....

just maybe. Im sure KJ Choi is a terrible player because he plays G15's...... I PROMISE you, the first thing you will notice is going to be "lack of forgiveness" So before you judge based on handicap, Ill wipe you up and down the green with my X-18's until I get my AP2's. Just saying.

uhh, ok. I wasnt judging your ball striking ability in any way shape or form nor judging you by your handicap, lol. You handicap is better than mine. The only thing I was hinting at was you dont play blades from looking at your sig so you dont really have experience to say they hurt your hands. but you said, you have been demoing them lately so. Like I said Ive never had them hurt my hands. If you hit a off shot, it can feel a little dull. I just dont think there is such a drastic difference in forgiviness with a slight cavity back like people make it out to be. If your swing isnt good your iron wont make up for it even if it has a cavity back, the result will still be poor

Its understandable. Blades are for guys who want some sweet looking clubs, or can really, really hit the ball well. There was a recent article showing how many Tour Pros are not using blades. IMO, why cheat yourself out of the technology that can only help you, ya know?

Hurt is a relative term. Will it hurt (and sting) as much as hitting the end of a wooden baseball bat when it's 30* out? No, but it will be a sort of dead feeling and your hands might sting a little if it is cold and/or you are using 2 piece balls or range balls.

I believe I may have over exagerated the term hurt. I guess you could say, akward/slight sting/numbing feeling?

yes some tour pros are using some cavity back but the vast majority wont switch from blades. Look at titleists website and see for yourself of the players endorsed, 90% are playing blades.

3 of the first 5 are playing CB's or AP2's so IDK about 90%.

btw I played the 710 ap2 for a long time. They are great irons but i personally didnt notice any difference in forgivness over the mp32's I got, none and I actually hit the mp32 better which is why I wanted to use them. Thats why I say what I do.

I wouldn't worry about the "hurt" or "sting" as it is very minimal unless you just make an absolutely terrible strike which would probably hurt with any club. I have had mine for years now and have hit my fair share of really bad shots and never noticed this.

As for the forgiving aspect....why not play them? There seems to be too much pride in the way with many golfers. A lot of the newer guys I play with automatically think that you have to be a pro to hit blades or that you are not that good if you have to hit forgiving irons. There are no rules on that say which ones you should hit or a handicap limit for those clubs. My thoughts are play whatever clubs help you score the best whether they be blades or GI clubs. Look at how many pros went to the hybrids instead of irons. Many pro players play forgiving clubs. If they do, why can't shouldn't we? It's all about how many strokes it takes to get it in the hole anyway....you don't get extra points for what club you use.

To the OP, one of the first things I noticed with a blade style club is the feel of a shot hit in the sweet spot!! IMO, there is nothing like the feeling of hitting a 3i in the sweet spot of a MB or blade, whatever you want to call it now. It's like butter!

With that being said, they are about worn out now and I plan on buying a new set next year. I going to get fitted and buy whatever is hit the best. I don't care what the brand is or if it's the "next best club" I am a HUGE Mizuno fan, but that will not play into the equation next year...unless I hit them the best.

jesus. just say it like it is man. we can see right through it. you bought the blades cuz they're cool and they're mizunos. you previously bought the AP2's because they were cool and they were titleists. A few months or so from now, you'll have a new set of irons and you'll make the same posts. give it a rest.
