I was just searching through PGA tour swings and SnT swings and came to this somehow.

Shows two guys hitting complete opposite ball flights at the exact same time. This video vividly helps me understand what I used to do (guy on the right) to what I am trying to do (guy on the left).

Notice how they takeaway at the exact same time, but the guy on the right seems too quick from the top (he's at impact when the guy on the left is just past p5), where as the guy on the left seems much smoother. Also noticed they both reach P4 at the same time.

Guy on left hits a push draw and guy on right hits a pull fade.

Just thought it was interesting and relevant to me, anyways.

I don't know why people think a fade is a more controlled shot. But if it works for you than alright. It's far too inconsistent of a shot (a pull fade), at least for me. So I am working on moving away from it.

Why do you favor the guy to the right? You just said that you do

Wait. We're supposed to be like the guy on the left? Man this game is hard.

No, it's personal preference. And just because you take your hands up steeply, it doesn't mean you can't hit a draw if you've got the right move on the way down. Deep hands make it easier to hit a push draw however.

I don't know why people think a fade is a more controlled shot.

The perception is fades go higher and thus come down softer with less roll, I suppose. Not that you can't do that with a draw too.

To be fair, the guy on the right is still really good. The video's too fast to see a lot of the differences but they're not very big...

Why does a fade go higher? Physics wise

Because the face is open relative to the swing path, thus adding loft to the club.

I spent an hour today at the range hitting high, soft landing draws today though, the difference in height is negligable in my opinion. Or I'm just possibly not doing it right.

For me, my easy stock shot on any given shot is a very slight fade. Thus, I can control it a lot better. If I need to hit a strong cut on dogleg right with my driver, I can do it pretty confidently. Tell me the hit a draw and have it hug the tree line? I'll more than likely hook the shiz out of the ball.

I worked realllllllll hard to consistently get my draws to a managable level a few months ago. It kinda got there...then I lost it and started hitting aggressive snap hooks with my driver. As for why i like the guy to the right, his back swing just seems mroe aligned to me...I personally like the look of more steep backswing and his swing is more close to what I'd consider a good back swing from my personal opinion. guess its personal preference...to me the guy on the left's swing looks too shallow for my taste.

How the hell are we supposed to see anything at that speed other than the guy on the left startign it right and the guy on the right starting it straight or slightly left?

Yeah, he's still got a good plane even though its leaning more towards 2 plane than 1 plane I think. My old swing is probably 10 degrees steeper than the guy on the right.

The biggest thing that caught my eye about this video was the P4 positioning and the opposite ball flights.

At the end of the video you can see them starting to curve back. I wish the video played out another 3 seconds.

I can see hand position and shoulder plane at the top, partially because if you look at the video frame before you press play, it shows them at the top.

At the end of the video you can see them curving back slightly. I wish the video played out another 3 seconds.

That too.

Because the face is open relative to the swing path, thus adding loft to the club.

So then a afde will go higher but a lot shorter. And what ball flight laws are you using for that? When I push fade it (closed to the target delofting) its usually a low fade where as a push draw from me will be nice and high and land soft becase I started right (Open face adding loft)

Now if I could just hit EITHER ONE of them consistently I'd be really happy. Maybe Im ass backwards but I open my stance and strenghten my grip and flatten my wrist for fades (that miss is dangerous) and close my stance and keep a flat wrist and go with a neutral grip for draws (this miss is a straight) I cant see anything in those videos. I hate 4 second swing vids.

Agreed...my typical fade is actually lower than my draw. That could be because i'm not 100% comfortable hitting a draw so I'm not delofting the ball as much (? not sure), ..but for me, a faded drive for me has a lower more penetrating flight while my draws tend to go up a bit higher.

That's what I thought but figured it couldn't be that simple. By that logic push draws should go just as high because a push indicates an open clubface at impact as well.

It could be - and I repeat COULD be - that to hit a hit a push fade you open the club by putting your hands even farther in front of the club, which, depending on how you do it, could open the clubface.
