God speed man. Basic training recommendations, never under any circumstances, raise your hand for anything. For example, who here is a golfer? Great, you will be a great floor mopper.....etc. Also, never take anything personal. DI's are like the internet, they do anything to get a rise out of you. Last, after every inspection, recheck your area because they will plant things in pockets during inspections.

After almost 2 decades of service in the Marine Corps I would like to wish you good luck... Give your all and expect the worse, you are soon (if you graduate Boot Camp and do become a Marine) going to be a part of the world finest fighting organization in the world. Also, it is good to see someone with a good handicap like yours join the Marine Corps, we need good golfers to compete in the Armed Forces Golf Championships which go every year. Look into the All-Marine Golf Program when your world finally settles down. It is going to take at least a year before everything "settles down". Do you know what program you enlisted for? Meaning what is your MOS going to be?

I went to boot camp in 1972. Time flies! Pay attention to the DIs, and help out your fellow recruits when they struggle.

Also, you want to switch to an all-gold Marine Corps emblem for your TST avatar. You'll understand why very soon in boot camp.
