I have only played with 13 clubs this season because I felt no need for another club in the bag.

I want to get another club or potentially two more so I can choose the clubs I want to use on any given day.

Just looking for some suggestions and how other people filled their bag in the best way for them.

Just for reference my set is:

Driver - 9.5
3 Wood - 15.5
3-PW (47 PW)
GW - 52
SW - 56
Putter

throw a 19* hybrid in there or a 5 wood.
also throw a 60* lob wedge in there.

depending on course, i usually switch around three setups as such:

driver, 3wood, 5 wood, 3-PW, 56, 60, putter
driver, 3wood, 3-PW, 52, 56, 60, putter
driver, 3wood, 5 wood, 4-pw, 52, 56, 60, putter

909F3 18* 5 FW stock Aldila Voodoo

I don't understand why these "stupid" questions keep coming, what other advise can you get than a Hybrid or 5W to fill the "gap" between the 3W and 3i or to add a Lob Wedge.

Well, obviously these are the choices. I think he's trying to see which one would be most beneficial to him in others opinions. Personally I'd go with a 60*... that's what I use and it works for me. Somebody else might prefer a 5w or a hybrid.

If you think it's "stupid" don't even bother to answer, the guy is just trying to narrow down choices.

"The guy" is a 1.2 index and yet he can't decide whether to add a hybrid or a lob wedge. That sounds plausible.

Your 56 can easily become a 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, etc. Simply open the face right? For some reason I can't stand all these wedges with lofts starting with 6. No reason for em imo. How far do you hit your 3 wood off the tee? Driver? 3 iron? Whichever has the largest distance gap, throw a club in there. I'm guessing a club between the 3 wood and 3 iron is where to go. Hit is off the tee on short par 4's, tight driving holes, 2nd shots on long par 4's or par 5's, etc.

60 degree wedges are for sucks.... Spaulding from Caddyshack invented them and Di Nunzio marketed them to death. Do you want to associate with those two clowns? Do you Danny?

Replace (or bend) your 56 to a 58, then treat yourself to a nice solid 5 wood. I am partial to 5 woods, just because the rough isn't very long where i play. I play with 8 clubs most of the time, shot 77 the other week :)

Consider a 19* Raylor. Boat-hull sole can help you chop out of rough. But, you probably don't go there often with a 1.2 HDCP.

I guess that didn't really answer the question.

Based on a 47* PW, I'd consider a 53 / 60 wedge setup and whatever hybrid would perform the task of a 5 wood / 2-iron.

Add whatever gives you some utility. Doesn't look like you need help scoring. Add a hybrid, a second putter, another wedge, a 2 iron. You don't really need anything as you are shooting good scores. I carried 2 putters for years and it turned some lousy rounds to OK rounds when the "A" putter was messing with my head.

Well Borf ......

Point is these questions "we" see here 8-10 times a week and surfing through the forum all these kind of threads, you could easely conclude the forum is a great faq for all you want to know about filling gaps, 14th clubs etc. At handicap 1.2 ("which you maybe have") you can figure out yourself what your best option is for you personally. Lob wedge is in my opinion a waste of $$$ because at our range of handicap we can do what we need whith the wedges we allready have. Just open the clubface a little to have a 58 or a little more to have a 60.... one of the posters suggest bending your 56 to 58, but as most of the 56 Vokeys have a lot of bounce, you might end up with a 58 with too much bounce ...... Maybe is still a nice suggestion to replace the 56 with a 58. It is clear to see your largest gap is from 3i to 3W. I don't how it is with you, but I only use the 3W if I really have a good lie in the fairway (and from the tee of course), so if the lie is less good or even in the semi-rough and I really need the distance I go for my 5W, where some of the others might suggest to reach for a hybrid. If 15 clubs would be allowed I would maybe toss in a hybrid for easy recoveries from the rough and still get some good distances with it. I personally play most chips with my 9 iron (so I could take out the gap wedge and replace that with a hybrid). When it comes to hybrids ..... there are soooooo many options ...... if you just want it as a rescue tool from the rough, I wouldn't choose it to be a 2i or 5W replacement (18-20* loft), but in that case I would go for a 23-27* loft called a 4H or 5H. But if you want a Hybrid in the gap between 3i and 3W .... and use it from the fairway mostly, go for a 2H (*17-19) and you decide whether you want it to have the same gap as between your 3i and 4i and use it instead of a 2i or a larger gap if you want it in between the 3i and 3W. Personally it is D - 3W - 5W - 3-9 - PW(47) - GW(52) - LW(58) but I have also been using D - 3W - 5W - 2H - 3-9 - PW(47) - LW(58) Some players replace the 3W + 5W by a 4W to create space for hybrids ...... but I really like to use the 3W of the tee at narrower holes and still get myself at 250 yds in the fairway, take a mid iron to GIR (with most 4W you can forget about that). Some golfers ditch the 3i and replace it with a hybrid, but I really like my 3i and about 60% of the pro's still prefer a 3i above a hybrid. As you see ...... there are sooooooooo many options, and I am sure you can work it out nicely yourself..........

Gerald, a 4 wood hardly loses a tonne of yards over a 3 wood. 20 at most.

Guess you don't need a PW or SW either.

You can just open up your 9i. Wait, why do you need different irons? just start with a 1i and open up the face. It's a lot easier to have a pre-set loft on a club, you can't be sure how much your opening the face

Add a 24 or 26 degree hybrid. I use mine to "chip" off tight lies close to the green. Take a putting grip and stance. Practice is highly recommended before using in a match. But once mastered it yields better results than using a 5 iron for such shots.

I rather use a 5 iron than a 3 iron for a second shot, 20 yds can mean a lot !!!
