It was said in another post that Rife is having financial problems. Does anyone have info about this..Are they going out of buisness or just not going to make as many putters?

I'm not sure, but Golf Town (Canadian chain) had a bunch of putters from Yes and Rife on sale the other day and they looked and felt like garbage. Sort of like the huge batches of junky Ben Hogan putters they used to bring in from who knows where.

They are also on sale at Golfdom in NOVA, but they're having the end of summer sale, so I don't think that has anything to do with whether or not Rife is going out of business. Might pick one up for $90 though!

Smaller makers like Rife will most likely be gobbled up like Never Compromise was by Cleveland. I have no evidence to back up that Rife will fall aside, just sayin. It's a shame as it is the little guys that usually push the big guys to keep up.

I doubt they're going under, especially given so many top pros choose to play them (including some pga, who I assume must turn down the offer of being paid to play different putters such as Odyysey etc?).

There are plenty of reasons for a sale, such as a new product line etc?

Is the Antigua really that good then? I'm temted to pick up a second hand one to see how they play... Also, is there a lot of difference between that and the Aussie model?

Seems the Aussie and the Aruba are more similar as both have plumber's necks. Other than that, I am not sure what the difference is. Check the Rife site and compare materials. Could be a different steel. The Antigua I have is the best putter I own. I have 2 Scotty Newport 2 terylliums, Bettinardi, Ody, etc.. and the Rife is the one that puts the ball in the hole. Great putters. Read on the Rife site under "Technology" and read the top part about roll face technology. That is the meat of what is special about these putters.

tried one today, good price on a milled face, couldn't feel the difference between that and a Scotty Cameron almost at all.

It's not a "milled face" putter at all. The whole putter head is milled. The neck is welded on.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Contrary to the bad rumors on the internet, Rife Putters is doing very good and is profitable since it strategically streamlined its management.

This must be coming from the same rumor mill, that 8 months ago reported that Rife was being acquired and never happened.

I tried the Rife Barbados and loved the feel of it when I demo'd it.  It was a bit more money that I had to spend.  When I went back a few days later to buy it anyway, it was gone and I haven't seen one in local stores since.  Heck... I haven't seen many on Ebay either.

      I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
