I wasn't sure if this should be in a serious forum or Grill Room. I figured Grill Room was the better choice.

"Speed does not come from the chest turning and rotating through the shot... Power comes from getting into a good position and then arms firing through the ball."

Uh huh... Who's your swing coach again? lol

I moved it to the Instruction forum.

I agree with Hunter that a lot of amateurs just spin their chests and leave their arms behind them, and pros and better players really get a lot of power from their arms. Some other amateurs never really turn their chests and use too much arms, but that's another story.

Accumulator release is important.

The "..." in your quote left out a lot of critical context that was key to what he was saying. It sounded right to me. From his tone and vocabulary, he wasn't saying that's the sole source of power, he was emphasizing that it's essential for good power.

Thanks for posting.  You can use what he's saying, because it's so vague and general and apply it to any swing "theory".  He's talking about getting the left shoulder behind the ball, but it just moves to his sternum and he stays centered.  Can see how well he kicks in the extension by how expanded his chest his.  Anyway, yeah like Erik said most amateurs don't turn their chest because they aren't taught how to.  There's more than just rotation.  And getting the arms to lower fast, accumulator release, it very important.

Ah see to me I took the initial mumbling followed by the chest not being the driving force of the swing followed by 'MOAR ARMZ!!!!' in the wrong context it seems.

Could be that I'm tired. Could be that he can't explain for sh*t. Either way it seemed to make no sense at all to me at the time.

I'll watch again tomorrow with fresh eyes.

Some people need to hear no arms and some people need to hear all arms and others need a mixture of both in the same swing. Just to give a visual to what has already been said, her feel in this video was "no arms back, all arms down." Someone watching this might think that she is just rotating with passive arms though.
