I thought he was going to play. This hurts a bunch since Vijay isn't playing either. So, Tiger must be waiting until his tourney next weekend to tee it up.

I don't think we'll see him until the British Open. He might hit a few balls between diaper changes, but I don't know about fitting a tournament in...

Good. I'm sick and tired of every event he plays in becoming "Tiger this, Tiger that, Tiger everything". Although it's enjoyable to watch Tiger hack the one time out of a hundred he does, it really gets old. And let's not forget most commentator's practically kissing the guy's ass every three minutes. I'll actually be able to see the rest of the field play.

I agree sort of. I do want to see Tiger do well in the majors and even break Jacks record, but I agree it gets old. I like to focus on the golfers that are having a good round and tourney.

Tiger wins alot of respect points with me for taking time off to be with the little one. I usually don't like the guy, but this is a good thing for him to do, for his family..

I agree. Whenever he is near the lead (like top 5-10) he's ALWAYS on. During the U.S. open when Bubba Watson was ahead of him, they barely gave Bubba air time because of Tiger. Every one of Tiger's shots we have to see. It really does get old.

My guess is that he'll play in his new event in DC the week of July 4, but that is just a hunch. Seeing how this is the first year, and his foundation is the main beneficiary of the event, he's gotta play doesn't he?

Tiger is on the tube 100% of the shots he plays, if they don't catch him live they'll show it on tape everytime, but he is the reason ratings are much higher when he is in contention. The networks aren't dummies, they're going to show the man.

He is Tiger Woods, he doesn't have to anything he doesn't want to. You make a good point though. I had forgotten about that event in DC. He will probably play in that one and take another few weeks off after that.

Where did Tiger finish, and where did Bubba finish, again? C'mon... They stopped showing Baddeley after he fell a thousand shots back, too, and they showed a lot of Angel when he was near or in the lead.

Tiger's on a lot because: a) he gets ratings b) he's almost always in contention

The TV ratings beared this out. The final round was up nearly 20% from the previuos year. Tells you how much more the public cares about Tiger than Phil. If NBC could they would have a camera in Tiger's hotel room, car, locker and even follow him into the stall if he had to atttend to other business. America would rather see Tiger getting ready for a round than any other golfer in the world playing. If you don't agree, take a look at the ratings for any event where Tiger is done early and you will see a drop off.

I'd have to agree about the amount of exposure that Tiger gets.

He mostly deserves it though; when you get a popular golfer that is in the top 5 or so you're going to see a lot of him. However, there's been tournaments that he's not played as well and still gets lots of exposure. On the other hand, if Aaron Baddeley is in a regular tournament and he's not playing well you may get one shot shown on tape as filler if there's nothing else to talk about.

Its not the point, even in the third round when bubba was ahead of tiger and in a tie for the lead until hole 9, tiger seemed to be shown on every shot he did whereas i could be waiting 10 minutes to see bubba next.... even after tiger makes a 4 foot par save, they will replay the putt and his reaction to it about 3 times all in slow motion, they even show him walking down the fairway when other players coverage could be shown, dont get me wrong, tiger is a great player as well as a great guy but there are plenty other fans out here that would like to see their favourite players who are up there too!

Bubba Watson

I fully expected Tiger to take this week off too and with Vijay out as well Jim Furyk is probably itchin' to get this thing started. I think Tiger will play in his tournament, but who knows, he could wait until the British to come back.

As far as Tiger being on the air, I do agree that the telecasts do show him too much when he's not in contention. However, that obviously wasn't the case at the Open. All things equal (or perhaps not equal) they will always favor Tiger. He gives them ratings and that's who most people want to see. Diehards will just have to deal with that.
