I don't see the big deal, pretty much every guy I know has a fake girlfriend? Maybe bc they faked a death? That's against the law I think.

Even more strange is this from the Deadspin article is this: "The South Bend Tribune wrote an article describing the young couple's fairytale meeting—she, a Stanford student; he, a Notre Dame star—after a football game outside Palo Alto." And this: "'Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there.'"
Forget how they talked on the phone, how did they meet? I assume if he really wasn't in the loop then whoever was behind it found ... someone willing to meet him. And if they were close enough for him to call her his girlfriend, they must have gotten pretty close. And where's that girl today?
