I play the violin and piano, I'm planning on learning to play the guitar too.

I've been playing the piano since I was seven, and I started on the violin at nine. Even though I learned to play the piano first, I like the violin better. Now, I'm thinking of trying a guitar. I like classical music, so I don't think I'd be getting a lead guitar with all the distortion and stuff. And if I decide to try it out, I have a lot of friends and family who can teach me, yeah we're kinda a musical family.

How about you guys, do you play any musical instruments?

I play the guitar.

I have a Fender Mexi Strat that I have nicked named the General Lee because it is hugger orange. I added a white pearloid pick guard and it has black hardware. I want to convert it from HH to SSS.

I also have a mid 80s Epiphone Sheraton, a Gretsch Les Paul copy and my wife has a seafoam green Fender Jag-Stang.

Classical Piano since I was wee little but no so much anymore; I have a Yamaha Clavinova in my family room. Tried the violin but fingers were a bit large. When I was playing in local rock bands many years ago I played a Fender Precision and Fender Rhodes. My buddy, a former band member, still has them and I thought about trying to get the p-bass back. Also gotta acoustic and electric guitar around here some where that the kids play with.

I took piano lessons early in elementary school but I don't know if I made it a whole year before dropping that for the electric bass. It's definately something I'd like to pick up again sometime, though. I played the viola for Strings class in 4th or 5th grade, which was fun but not something I stuck with.

I just dusted off my electric bass and accoustic guitar today and played (or at least tried to) for a couple of hours. I'm going to try to get in the habbit of playing more often so I don't have to relive the pain from today of picking them up just to realize how much I've forgotten. First things first... I have to get new strings asap.

I took piano lessons in elementary school and switched to guitar in 6th grade. Took classical guitar lessons in high school and college and also played guitar in rock bands during those years. I played trumpet throught junior high and high school and also picked up French horn in high school. Played trumpet in the Marching Owl Band (MOB) at Rice U for 3 years. I'm also a big fan of making music with found objects (yes, I'm a geek!).

Turned out I played too long that day after losing my calluses and ended up with a blister.

I finally got new strings this afternoon. Ernie Ball Super Slinkys for my bass and Elixir Light Nanowebs for my accoustic. I haven't strung the Elixirs up yet but am loving the much needed new strings on my bass. I couldn't tell you the last time I changed my strings and oh what a difference it makes!

    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
