So his technique when he had the so called "yips" when he was shanking and fatting and thinning it - wasn't it generally the same technique when his short game was considered to be pretty good? No one said anything about it. Then February happened and the pile ensued. Anyways, wished Woods went more into detail as to what he did with Como.

Good stuff.  I still think that tiger could maybe benefit from may letting the forearms rotate the club in even a bit more. But yeah it is easy to tell he never actually had the yips.  This is a pretty good analysis of some changes even if the camera angles are really not good.

This is the picture that I posted a while ago in another thread really shows how bad his technique was before(I think he chunked it on this shot if I recall).  It is awfully tough to "glide" the club using the bounce from here.  The only thing you can really do from there is come down very steep on the ball.

From 1997 to a couple of years ago, Tiger's short game was considered great and maybe even the best ever by some.  I think a lot of the "pundits" forgot that.  He got away from what he did well.  I think he is just getting back to basics.

Tiger's Short Game Proximity

2001: 143rd

2002: 99th

2003: 9th

2004: 5th

2005: 111th

2006: 70th

Though when you say rankings you are talking about 6 feet average is usually the best from inside 30 yards.

Still, Tiger had a few good years and a few average years in terms of getting the ball near the hole from 30 yards and in.

It would be interesting to see what Tiger's short game stats are under pressure. Like closing out a final round on Sunday for the win at a Major.

I'm not sold until a full season goes by and the yips don't creep back up - it's very possible to find short term fixes but the underlying twitch returns.

The only reason you're not sold is because it's Tiger.

Tiger never had the true Yips that the announcers were thinking he had. He didn't have the actual physical impairment that would still be causing him issues. If he did he would not have been able to have the short game he did at the Masters. When you actually look at people who have the Yips they do not come back to their original form. They usually have to drastically change their technique to even play, usually with putting.
