Hey!

Im currently using three wedges, one pw (dont really now the loft nor bounce) a 52 degree with 7 degrees of bounce and a 58 degree with 10 degrees of bounce. As i dont have distance gaps to fill, im thinking of getting a 64 degree wedge cause it fits well with the degree differences between my current wedges. It also seems to be a nice club to use around the green for flop shots. I just cant see any reason to get a 60 degree wedge when my 58 degree wedge is so close to it in terms of degrees.

I know it's alot of work to become comfortable with the club and actually being to able to use it in a proper way, but i'm willing to take that. Im currently looking to buy the cobra Tour Trusty Satin 64/8.

I personally would just stick with the 52 and the 58. 64 is a ton of loft and really you can do every shot you want with a 58.

That really just what I would do. I might look at another club between the driver and long irons.

I've thought about getting one myself. If you've read Dave Pelz's short game bible he really pushes the 64 to fill in gaps from the 1/2, 3/4 and full swings. I agree that you could just hit flop shots with the 58 and get the same effect. But personally for a none pro/new golfer it's tough just to keep up my skills with a pitch shot.

64* wedge? Does it come with a mouthguard and a jockstrap? Lol.

I have a 68* wedge. Love it. How about a 73 degree wedge?

You've got to go your own way.

For me, 6 degree gaps are slightly larger than I want (I go 45, 50, 55, 60).

If the 58 is your primary wedge around the green, go for it, with the caveat that you will need to have the confidence to swing the club and not "baby" it; and with the caveat that I have found that any loft above 62 as useless.

I have purchased two 64 deg - a Vokey and a Callaway - and they went into  BST. I had a 62 Callaway, liked it, but did not use it frequently enough -- BST.

I can use my 60 like a 62, so I do not believe I need a 63 or 64.

I would rather put my money at the top of the bag as straights distance is a #1 factor for scoring. The more options I have for distance, the better.

I bought a 64 degree wedge last January, so I've had it available for 1 and 1/2 seasons.   For me, it depends on my game and where I am putting the ball.

My course has a number of greens that can be very narrow to hit into, depending on your angle and a number of bunkers where you might not be able to hold the ball onto the green even with a very delicate and precise shot out of the bunker.

A 64 degree wedge flies noticeably higher and lands noticeably softer.   I've hit shots with mine that seem un-real for the difference for my 60 degree wedge.   And for pitches from say 25-30 yards out, the ball just flies incredibly high, which I need to land soft.

However, I am not using it this year for a couple of reasons:

1 -  I put more work into approaching greens and playing for the center of the green more, so I have less need of it (I'm hitting more greens)

2 -  I have been working on using my 60 to land the ball in the rough on tricky shots to slow it down and use that to slow it down and trickle towards the hole.   Also been doing the "hit the ball with the toe of the putter thing".

I do have some times where I wish I had it with me.   It can be the difference where I play between staying on the green or potentially having a chip back the other way, but overall I cannot find something to remove that makes room.   Anything I would take out is something that I can use to go for a par-5 in two (4 - iron or hybrid).   And I find that I go for the green more often with one of those than I specifically need the 64.

I love the 64, I really do.   Sometimes I do change my setup to play it.   it's perfect for in the rough where you can easily get right under and launch it high.   Depending on the shots you face, it might be good for you.   The way my wedge lofts are right now, I can't remove another wedge for it.   I currently have:

PW -  46

GW - 50

SW - 56

LW - 60

To get an effective spread I would need this:

PW - 46

GW - 52

LW - 58

LW - 64

And that means buying two more wedges, which I'm not there yet.   Might do it, but not yet.

I mostly play the 60* wedge on approach shots, but I hit a low ball. The 68* is only for shots where I would have to use some finesse with the 60*. I'd like to get the 73* wedge but it costs over $100. That's more than my entire bag is worth. :-)

I recently purchased Callaway's 64* Mack Daddy 2. It has taken some time to adjust to but, I really like it so far. If your ball is sitting up you have to be careful. As it so easy to slide the club underneath the ball and you will look like you just took a practice swing.

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
