Loads of stuff.

I like Patricia Cornwell and Jo Hayder - if you haven't read anything of hers, try 'Tokyo' - it's really great. And horrifying, too.

Connelly, the guy who writes about the lawyers. I love Graham Greene, TS Eliot and Borges - the Argentinian, not the comedy pianist.

I've started getting into a guy called Slavoj Zizek, from Slovenia. Quite hard at times, with a lot of references to other writes and his other work, but very rewarding when you unravel what he's talking about!

Always enjoyed Lord of the Rings - als have the Children of Turin, which is a bit doomy! Love BEowulf - the Seamus Heany version is outstanding. But Michael Crichton's 'The 13th Warrior' is pretty good, too.

And I could not give a list of 'favourites' without mentioning Kurt Vonnegut. With the exception of 'Bogambo Snuff Box', everything he's written is brilliant.

Big history buff, and I love Fictional History along the lines of Man in the High Tower by Philip K. Dick and nearly anything by Harry Turtledove.

I forgot - Philip K Dick. How could I??? Man in the High Tower is outstanding. But so is Time out of Joint (? - sometimes get it mixed up with another one), on which The Truman Show was based; Total Recall and Minority Report - both different from the movies; very good in themselves.

Yup, Dick is cool.

It's a metaphor for dictatorships and the failures of revolutions. Nazism had been defeated so Soviet communism was the most handy comparison at the time.

Shouldn't you be concerned that a book that warns about giving power-mad people positions of responsibility is so lightly dismissed by your educational establishment...? scary.

as of late, ive only been reading required text from my economics and sociology courses. never really been into reading novels. suprisingly economics is intruiging every so often. sociology and philosophy have some very good reads as well.

I love to read golf books and magazines, but I also read a lot of non-golf stuff.

With the children ( the two oldest ): the Harry Potter series, which is superb. We're almost finished with

The Deathly Hallows . For me: I just finished David McCullough's John Adams , and at the same time, watched the multi part series on HBO. I've just started James M. McPherson's Abraham Lincoln and the Second American Revolution.

Borges - the Argentinian, not the comedy pianist.

Bravo! I didn't know anyone knew or even remembered the difference.

I love Lord of the Rings in hardback- have read it twice and is better than the films. Can't wait for The Hobbit on film- i will read the book after watching the film, so then i can pinpoint discrepancies between the movie and Tolkien's scripture.

Well, I'm pretty sure the pianist didn't do the soundtrack for the movie of The Name of the Rose...
