I try to get a logo ball from each course I play. I have played 1068 course and have 1016 logo balls. Some courses have never had a logo ball and others have not had any in years. There are logo ball collectors and I have traded for some I was missing. How many do you have?

Zero

Just nothing I’ve ever cared about.  I’m not much of a collector...

1016 is impressive though!

I used to be a collector, I still have quite a few, but they aren't on display and I stopped buying at new courses a while ago.   Maybe in this coming time as I finish setting up my golf room, I'll get a display for them and get back into it.  I probably have 3-4 dozen.

I started collecting them when my son moved to South Carolina, I bought all the local ones I could find that him and I played when he was younger. Now when I play out there for visits I try and add. He has the same collection plus a few different ones that I didn't play yet. A51453A2-A093-4DEA-97F5-471722D87B20.thumb.jpeg.cdb581a22ce892ff10a4bbdbdfcb1b43.jpeg

There is urban legend tale that circulates around Bethpage that there was some trophy hunter playing the course for the first time with a regular salt and complained about the lack of logo balls in the clubhouse to commemorate his round. It actually does happen im told. So the guy punches the trophy hunter in the nose, smears his golf ball in his own blood and tells him "theres your f***in' logo ball"

I have about 70, Unfortunately I didn't start until about 10 years after I started playing, and I've been trying to go back and get logo balls from courses I played during those years. I've been pretty successfll so far.

So here's a Question, If a course you play has never had a logo ball, Is it cheating if you download their logo from their website and have it printed on a ball? Or getting them printed for courses that you played that have since gone out of business?

It is a personnel decision. I only save ones the courses sell. I have played about 75 courses that never had a ball, some of which are now out of business.Too bad they missed out selling loco and making a few extra bucks. I just got a ball from a course I played almost 10 years ago. It made my day, my week my month. If a course has a name change and I play it again then I consider it a new course.

I find the hardest part to be trying to remember the course names from 20+ years ago. There's always a couple details I remember, so I try to ID them from those. People on the site have been helpful as well.

(edited)

I have only played 18 different courses in NM and HI since I am relatively new to golf. I have a display rack for them and my 2 hole-in-one balls.

If a course you played didn't have a ball at the time just call them the next year and see if they will mail you one.  I've done that and gotten about 5 that way.  Courses were hours from my house with little chance of playing them in the near future.

    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
    • Extremely outward path with a very closed club face. Maybe unless you have a stupidly weak grip, like right hand way over top, I don't think the grip is necessary highly correlated to this.
