Surprising to me since the other 3 majors are rescheduled. I guess with weather across the pond it makes some sense, but it is definitely a disappointment.

Did R&A really cancell the Ooen Championship?

Too bad if they did, but not really surprising.

Yeah my bad. I don't follow the news media much anymore. Sports, or other wise. Didn't read the date on the article. 2021 it is.

AFAIK, it's still September 17-20 at Winged Foot. I don't the R&A has any jurisdiction over The Open.

US Open / British Open:   (The Open)    It seems as though most of the golf world is now calling the British Open "The Open"

Nah. Only the people who like to sound elitist or why buy into what the R&A is trying to brainwash people into thinking. The British Open was barely a major for a decade or two there.

Nah, it’s called The Open because it was the first of its kind. Started in 1860. Golf wasn’t high on the agenda for the Americans back then due to political and military issues.

And throughout much of the 1900s, it was called "The British Open."

In the UK you guys might have called it "the Open" but in the U.S., "the Open" is our national championship.

Your trophy doesn't even say "open championship" on it, while the U.S. Open trophy does.

I'm not getting into this debate again. The R&A even called it the British Open for a good stretch of time, but has lately tried to re-brand it as "The Open" or "Open Championship."

There are a lot of "open championships."

The two that are majors: The British Open and the U.S. Open.

    • Yeah - I'll keep an eye on that - I've been across the line for about forever, so I assume that I want to overexaggerate the laid off bit to get it closer to square when I take a real swipe at the ball.
    • Those are better. Watch where the shaft points at the top, too. Bit over-rolled there (laid off).
    • First swings at after a 2.5 month forced hiatus. No surgery in the forecast at the moment! Doc said okay to start easing in gently over a few weeks. The effort is barely 30% here but felt solid.  I think my swing changed a few years ago after my right ankle injury (weight shift profile). I wonder if this may bring about another change. I certainly won't pivot on to the knee (left) aggressively any time soon, if ever. Could even be a good thing..heh.
    • I mean, I just assume he mistyped something. 🙂 Promos were on X/Twitter and today I put the promo on IG. The full video is landscape (not good for Instagram) and too big for X (file size), so it's always been on YouTube.
