Who do you think flies under the radar. Hogan clubs go largely unnoticed, and Macgregor always has pretty good clubs. those Mac-tec clubs were pretty good, and I'm exited about trying there new clubs.

I recently purchased a back-up set of blades from Wood Bros. These clubs are really soft. The shafts are Apollo shafts and very inexpensive, about $4 a shaft. However, they perform really well (almost as good as my Mizunos). I paid $135 for a 3I-PW.

I'd have to say Srixon. They are never acknowledged but have great irons.

Yeah, they make great player's clubs that go largely unrecognized, despite having Jim Furyk in their corner.

I'd go with either Snake Eyes or Wilson

Component Clubs never get the respect they deserve. Wilson also are percieved as junk, thats just because they make junk like the Harmonized or ProStaff Clubs. But Wilson Staff is quality equipment.

Are they local? Local club-makers can make great stuff too.

No, they are located in Houston. I picked them up on Ebay as the specs were the same as my Mizunos.

I think that if many companies like Srixon had more money to offer the pros than you would see more tour players using their clubs... and then more regular Joes using them as well.

There are many good companies but many are underrated. Even my Macgregor Irons... most people do know about Macgregor but they see the Mac-Tec driver and some of the newer/cheaper looking pieces of equipment so they steer clear of the brand all together. These irons are honestly the best I have ever played and I love the progressive blade. The 3 iron is just as easy to hit as the 8 iron for me. But yeah, most of the bigger companies are developing great products and in turn are selling a decent amount at first which gives them the funds to endorse professional players... which in turn helps sales because everyone wants to play what the pros play. I use to have an integra driver that I could POUND!! That thing was freaky long.... I wouldn't buy their irons from what I've seen but some of the drivers are nice.

Srixon just bough out cleveland so, I think they have some money. Also, I don't think the Mac-tec is a turnoff, that was a great driver, IMHO. The only bad thing was the draw version turns your fade into a very nasty hook.

Fisher putters. My putter is a Fisher; I got it from a friend when I was struggling with my Ping. Maybe I'm bias because I enjoy it much more than the Ping.

Well technically, Sumitomo bought Cleveland. Sumitomo owns Srixon, along with Dunlop and Falken tire comanies

I actually think Snake Eyes makes some fantastic clubs...they are kind of underrated because they are a lot smaller company--but they make some quality clubs i tell you-and the price is great

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

I definitely think that MacGregor is the most underrated club company out there. I am a little biased though cause I absolutely love their clubs.

Hopefully their new offerings will bring them into the limelight again since they are some of the best new clubs on the market at a great price.

i think that Nickent clubs are underrated, i hear they make some very forgiving and decent clubs, and also Never Compromise putters. Its also good to see Adams getting some love, they used to be underrated but now people are realizing that they make quality stuff.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
