I just posted in the "do you miss metal spikes" thread and got to thinking about how much I liked walking from the clubhouse to the first tee with the sound on metal spikes ringing off the tarmac/ concrete pathway. Then, since I'm working and my mind has already wandered to the golf course, I was pondering my favo[u]rite walks in golf. Here's a list of some of mine - not in any particular order:
Best
1. Above mentioned walk to the first tee.
2. Walking onto the green without putter in hand to retrieve ball having holed out from off the green.
3. From buddies ball onward to your own having finally out driven him after years of trying.
4. Up the 18th fairway on the Old Course at St. Andrews - if you're lucky enough to get the chance.
5. To lunch when midway through a 36 hole day - if your fit enough for 36 and haven't reeked the place out on your first 18.
6. To a blind green to view your ball in close proximity to flag - especially when buddy told you he thought it was "a nice shot but a bit long."

Worst:
1. Across adjoining fairway to locate hideously sh@^ked shot.
2. Back to tee (alone) to play "three off the tee"
3. To next tee with 3+ groups already waiting to play.

Anyone else?

The best for me is out with my son who is 6 and watching him have a blast; helps remind me that golf is a game.

The worst, walking in before 18 because of darkness or weather.

Worst--walking back to the tee to play number 3..Its embarassing

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Best -
walking up the fairway with putter in hand
Walking to the tee when you have the honor
walking to the hole to pick up your ball after holing out

worst -
re-teeing and hitting 3 is always the worst time
walking into a hazard/woods to search for a ball - anyones ball, even my own -I hate looking

Golf is the best, I cant wait to tee it up this season!

Best - Walking up to the 18th green with a putter in my hand after hitting that green for my first time ever and seeing my wife walking toward me with my son in her arms.

Worst - Walking around the green to find my ball after blading what should have been a 10 ft chip across the green and off the back of the hill.

Best walk...9th back to clubhouse realizing you have 9 more
Worst walk... back and forth across the fairway that you seem to never land in.

Best:
Any long walk with a putter.
Or better yet, have your buddy just pick up your ball because either a) "it's good" and you're playing gimmies or b) it's in the hole.
The walk back to the clubhouse after holing a nice putt on 18 with 20-odd beer drinkers watching.

Worst:
3 off the tee.
Standing too close to the ball - after you've hit it.
Any search in the woods.
