I play Callaway Tour xi's and Titleist ProV1x's. You can get either of those balls in awesome shape (most have no marks at all, and all are still very playable) off eBay for less than a dollar a ball. I wouldn't recommend paying $4 a ball ever. There are plenty of balls that are far less expensive that are still awesome, and would serve anyone's purposes in playing.

There are quite a few good golf balls out there. If I had to choose one, I would (and do use) the Precept U-tri Tour. It is long, soft, and stops. Believe it or not, they sell these at Wal-mart.

The last time I checked on golfreview.com, these were one of the highest rated balls ever.
Whats in my bag:

Fairway/Hybrid: 15 & 19 degree Nickent 3dx Utility
Irons: MacGregor M565
Wedges: Cleveland 900 RTG 54 & 58 degreePutter: Odyssey DFX 2 ball

Played ProV1's for a couple of years, just switched (few weeks ago) to the Callaway Tour iX. I really like this ball, seems like I picked up a little yardage off my driver, has nice feel around the greens. Pretty similar to the ProV1, guess I just wanted a change :)

Yea Im looking around for a good ball. Titlest Pro Vi are awesome. I love the feel around the greens and short game. But paying for a dozen is a big hit on my wallet. I'm kinda looking around for a ball that is comparable to this. Soft but can go long too. Im looking at the Precept U-Tri and the Precept i-8Q (somethign like that).

Thoughts? I'm a bad slicer too off the tee - so assumingly I need a ball with less spin. But great on the short game.

Advice anyone?

Has anyone tried/heard of the Titleist Tour Prestige ball? I was at costco today and they were selling a 2 dozen pack... I've never heard of them and was wondering if they were good. From the box, they seemed similar to NXT Tours.

I cannot believe all those people answering that it is an old model and adding a whole bunch of nonsense. Evidently they have not even seen the ball you are talking about.

That ball is just made by Titleist for Costco and other big retailers and it is not the equivalent of any of the models Titleist sells in the U.S. at this point. If the people writing the posts were Costco or Sam's members they will know that those two arrange with producers to sell "unique" models of their products (Panasonic TV's, HP Laptops, McCallan Scotch, Kirkland's (Grey Goose) Vodka, and many others). They are not superior or inferior than the original, they are different. Also, they are really low priced for what you are getting. As for the quality of the Tour Prestige golf ball, it is not a Pro V1. It has, however the Fusablend cover found in the NXT Tour. It is a 2 piece ball (like the NXT used to be). It is not the longest ball that you will hit (but neither is the Nike Platinum that Tiger plays). It definitely gives you some short game spin and control. It feels very soft. The last two things to consider are that they cost $1.25 per pill (pre tax) and that they carry the cut proof guarantee (not that anyone here needs it) that Titleist does not even give to any of their soft covered balls that they advertise on the internet (Pro V's and NXT Tour). In sum, if you are a very good player (and have the money), you should be playing one of the tour balls. If not, the Tour Prestige is an exceptional ball for $1.25 each.
i usually look more to shape my shot than more distance so I go with the pro V1 but occasionally i use Callaway's Hx Hot.

until donald trump decides to make a golf ball, there will always be lots of debating as to which is the best golf ball

The best golf ball I've tried must be the Bridgestone B330S, I prefer it more than the B330, and I've tried the Pro v1 and v1x, but I still prefer the B330S overall ...

Still have been playing these B330's for the past three weeks, and absloutely love them.

I was using Bridgestone e5+, until yesterday. Hubby and I were out practicing and he found a couple of Titleist NXT Extreme. Told me to try it out and I love them! I can actually feel the ball compress off of my driver face!

For the choices given I like the ProV1, but I actually would go with the Taylormade TP/Red or Black. They are very comparable and $15 less per box. I play them for their soft feel and spin characteristics around the green.

Pro V1's and Bridgestone B330s.
Not much between them as far as i can tell.
Pro V1's may get a bit more bite around the green.
Be warned.......Bloody expensive if you play military golf!

I was disappointed to see Titleist drop the DT Solo brand. I thought it was a great ball in the price category. ProV's are the best but too pricey for every day to me

The DT is still around. They're the "Carry" and "Roll" now, but still.
