The last two round I play in 15mph wind and my driving distance really suck . My usual ball flight is high and a little fade sometimes, usually, carry around 190 yds. I can see my ball fly against the wind and drop back or no roll at all. On the other hand my friend drive was low and got pretty good speed around 40-50 yards further than me. He used my old driver 10.5 degree same as my current ping G SFT regular shaft.

Should I adjust to lower loft, set tee higher or learns how to hit draw?

We can't really tell you without knowing some more details.

  • Ball speed
  • Launch angle
  • Spin rate/axis
  • Clubhead speed/AoA (or at least spin loft) would also help, but mostly the first three.

Optimal launch angles tend to be pretty standard across many types of conditions. If it's really windy and firm, well, he may have an advantage, but if your launch was "good" you'd have the advantage most of the time.

Thanks but it is gonna be hard for me to get those numbers. I don’t have a unit that capable of and I don’t know if any driving range near me provide such equipment.

I only know my club speed around 80-85mph and ball speed 115-120mph.

Most likely suggestion to help your distance without knowing any of the details of your swing as @iacas asked for above, is to tee the ball up a little lower.  You will hit the ball a little lower and get a bit more run

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)

But also likely more backspin, which could hurt.

Or maybe I tee a little too low and create too much back spin? Why I see one of the ball fall back and down into lake 🥲🥲. I was trying to lower my tee or move the ball closer/further to center line and I remember only hit the ball pretty good on one of the hole (ball flight lower and baby fade 230-240 yards)

Without having more information from a reliable launch monitor it’s basically impossible to determine the root cause of the problem, and any fix for one thing could actually make it worse.

As mentioned, any number of causes there. I had an extremely high launch angle and lost a bit of distance, and many would go left a bit.  In my case I was able to do some poking around and got a 90 minute fitting at the PGA Superstore. I had my M6 which I was 'okay' with but not thrilled about. Warmed up at a range, hit a few 7 irons in the bay before starting. Hit a couple of other drivers to get a feel and loosen up. Then hit 20 balls with my M6. Got the numbers off the best 10 and put them aside. then proceeded to hit a few other drivers and did some comparing. As it turned out- it wasn't so much my swing or club, it was more a shaft issue. SS was at 100 but transition was a bit 'exuberant' so I've used a Stiff shaft. The stock shaft in the M6 had a low, softer kick point and with that combination it lead to a high launching, left flying super spinny shot.

Fitter and I checked around and hit a few other clubs and I came upon the C721 with the Smoke Black. Instant improvement. Same length, loft, lie, etc... Spin dropped to just over 2000, launch angle dropped a few degrees and everything (well, nearly) went straighter and 20-25 yards further carry. Higher kick point (which, I think is an overlooked stat with shafts) meant the head wasn't flipping at impact, but being dragged through in a better plane.

Someone may say "Oh, you need a softer shaft" Maybe so, but if you think about it, you can get a XS, S, R, A, L shaft, but each of those can have 3 variations on kick point so you have 15 choices, not 5. In my case a 'S' shaft was right, but the model or KP location made a big difference.

Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
