My son just got refitted into a new set of clubs and will probably be selling his old clubs.  Where is the best place to sell clubs?  Consider that they are left handed which might limit the buyers and we live in a rural area. The irons are 3 year old Wilson C300 Forged which also are less popular than some bigger brands, but they are good clubs.  3 and 5 wood and 3H are also Wilson C300. He has Callaway MD4 50, 56, and 60 wedges and a Callaway Epic Flash driver. He will probably keep his collection of putters for when he decides to change again.

Is he better off going local with FB Marketplace or Craigslist or one of the used online places like 2nd Swing? Maybe Callaway Preowned for the Callaways?

I know 1 left handed teenager who might be interested, but I don't know if these clubs are right for him or if his budget is in line with the value of the clubs.  Son doesn't need to get every penny out of the clubs, but he is buying the news club himself and wants to offset some of the cost and can't just give them away.

What is the best way to estimate the value of these used clubs?

Best is subjective, but I like to sell my used clubs on Reddit - subreddit r/golfclassifieds. I've tried FB marketplace and local craigslist, which have worked fine, but with personal exchanges I find it annoying to have to schedule a meetup, and often times the buyer shows up and then asks for a deal/lower price.

I live very close to a UPS store and a post office, so I don't mind shipping stuff. Usually I split shipping cost with buyer, or set my price to include shipping. I save all the golf club shaped boxes I receive for this purpose.

I've found that used club resellers like 2nd Swing, etc. really lowball the value.

Check the auction listings on eBay to see what things are selling for. Don’t look at the Buy it Now prices, just actual auctions.

I'm not a Facebooker so can't comment on the Marketplace. I'd probably use eBay, if it were me. I just sold a rather expensive item on Craigslist but it's getting so bad there with the pretend buyers that I'd almost rather give stuff to a charity than sell it on Craigslist.

I’m a good charity.😀

eBay will give the largest audience. But 2ndSwing clubs will give you an offer straight up and send the money. It’ll be lower than selling to a person but they’ll give you a shipping label for $10 and off they go.

As mentioned, 2nd swing is easy amd doesn’t waste your time.  Just prepare yourself for what their value is.  Rockbottom Golf I hear is good as well.

Forget Craigslist… it’s mostly scum your dealing with.  I reluctantly use Facebook Marketplace which is a tiny step above Craigslist.  35 seconds after you post it Antonio Vasquez and his 19 friends are sending an automated message that says “Is it still available.”  Also be careful with FB Marketplace and be sure to tell peope NOT to pay through FB, message you for payment details.

There are groups on Facebook Marketplace that u can join like “Golf Club Traders” etc… and u seem to get a better audience.  Lately though, trying to sell my Nike irons, I’ve had one guy say yes, I send him my PayPal address and then never hear from him.  Another has me check shipping with his zip code, he never writes back….

So I can get more through these groups but dealing with these people is a pain.  Second swing on the other hand is easy to deal with but you get next to nothing.

Thanks for the replies. I might see what 2nd Swing offers and then offer it to the one lefty kid I know and see if he (or more importantly his mom) is interested at that price.

I looked the values online from 2nd Swing, Callaway Preowned, Rock Bottom, and Global Golf and Global has the best offer.

CPO and Global only give credit toward purchases while 2nd Swing and Rock Bottom looks like they will just buy the clubs, which probably explains the price difference.  Who else just buys clubs without a purchase?

I think if the local kid offers $450 we would take and avoid the hassle of shipping. I would have to get more if I am going to ship them, otherwise I should just go with 2nd Swing or a combo of 2nd Swing and Rock Bottom.

I have used eBay this year and found it to pretty easy to do business. I sold a few drivers, fairways, and irons that were vintage and a new utility club and shaft from my new 3 wood. The fees are a little higher than I think they should be, but I did way better than the trade in values and I found everything a home. The only thing I didn't sell were the putters and wedges. I like to keep my old wedges for practice (especially bunker practice) and the putters just seem to rotate in and out of the bag every so often.

    • As a geezer who remembers seeing the original Star Wars in theaters - this sim is pretty kewl.  Fantastic detail!
    • Day 203 (21 Nov 24) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend.  Played it as a 7 club challenge (7w, 5h, 7i, 9i, GW, LW, putter).  As we were playing up a set of tees, no super loss of distance off the tee.  Had some good looks at birdie, failed to convert.  These sessions with fewer clubs really helps with course management.

    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
