My father story:

So after I got cancer at 27 and almost died, my dad wrote me a note about all the things he was proud of me for because he can't say these things in person. I thanked him for the note and said, "Dad, I love you." His response?

"Thanks."

Father's Day in my family shall be celebrated in the traditional manner;  mom and I will be watching the final round of the U.S. Open while dad does whatever he wants to do.  Someone will make the joke about how Samuel L. Jackson has a different name for the holiday, although who shall say that is yet to be determined.
