I'm really interested to hear feedback on this tool. For those of us like me whose grip slides into the palm without always being aware of it, I wonder if this might have some benefit.

I do not think it will help with the grip sliding into the palm-cuz that is not a grip strength thing so much as a different thing. Players will have this more in the palm just cuz it is so big they can not grip it entirely in the fingers like they can a regular grip.

I have one ordered too.-I used ot wrap a towel around a grip and have players swing with that too.-This is better.

Got one of those GripX grip measuring devices.

Right Hand: 58.4 kg (128 lbs)

Left Hand: 55.2 kg (121 lbs)

I probably need some improvement, maybe considering my swing speed.

Ordered a squeeze.

Only have 75lbs of max grip strength… is this one of the key missing pieces accounting for my lack of swing speed?!?

I am guessing yes. My understanding is that grip strength doesn't generate speed, but helps you sustain the generated speed.

On that thought, increasing grip strength raises the ceiling on how much faster you can condition yourself to swing. That seems to be the idea anyway and makes sense to me.

I think grip strength correlates to overall strength. Unless you just sit on the couch all day and use a grip strength device. You need more grip strength when you lift weights.

My numbers are… 129.9 right hand, 121.7 left hand. I got nearly 140 one time before, when I'd just ordered it.

Really? What are you using to measure it?

I used to do functional lifting exercises that utilized a rubber grip (fat grips) that slipped over the bar that made the grip diameter larger than standard. When you did deadlifts, farmer carries, or even curls it would hit your forearms super hard. This seems to be a take-off of that training but made for a golf specific application. The concept makes sense to me.

Yes. I think they even mention this in the webinar.

A similar unit to yours… I bought it from Amazon for like $30.

Got up just over 90lbs in my trail hand yesterday. Which was the first time the unit didn’t call me “weak” after testing and called me “normal.”

I remember when I was working on speed stuff a lot (and getting 105 - 110 mph driver ss) my hands would feel heavily stressed in transition and in the follow through.

I just measured my grip strength. Trail hand (dominant right hand) I max out at between 120-130lbs. Lead hand (left) a bit weaker at around 100-110lbs. I wonder if speed training (starting Stack soon) will indirectly improve grip strength.

I've been away awhile. Had a rotator cuff injury/surgery and now rehabbing my left shoulder. Although, always having had good hand and grip strength this thread, video and product makes me want to be aware of deficiencies and imbalances that I may now have. I am going to have my PT check my grip strength.

Excellent topic and video.

Oh, mine shipped yesterday. I'll have a video up not too long after I get them.

Got my GripX monitor this afternoon. My right hand (which ought to be my stronger hand) I got 139 and my left hand 143. I think that's not bad, but I have quite a way to go to match the long drive guys.

But you're not a long drive guy, so… you don't need to match them. 😉

I can do about the same with both hands.

    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
    • Extremely outward path with a very closed club face. Maybe unless you have a stupidly weak grip, like right hand way over top, I don't think the grip is necessary highly correlated to this.
