You've not gotten a warning or anything, and nobody's going to do anything to limit your account, punish you in any way, etc.

Actually, I take this back somewhat.

Sites are punished if they're seen as publishing the same content as exists elsewhere on the Internet.

Because you're copying and pasting the same thing to multiple sites, we all take a small hit.

So, please stop. You don't engage, you're still just promoting your "aspiring coach" angle.

I merged your topics into a single "mental game" topic.

I'll make a comment here which I will try to frame in a way that keeps it on topic.

I belong to two other golf forums. (I'm sure many members here do as well.) What I like about this one and the reason I've posted over 4,000 times here and like 10-50 times on the other forums is that the members here don't let you get away with saying something that's just not true.

The other two forums I belong to are fine. There's often some good stuff on there. Sometimes they are clever or creative. What drives me nuts is that someone will post something that is compete and utter bullsh!t and nobody will challenge them. I don't know if they are trying to avoid conflict or trying to be polite. But to me it just feels like people are willing to lap up nonsense and allow it to be pawned off as factual.

On TST if you post something, others will challenge it, question it, or ask for clarification (usually politely).

So @KyleHwhen you come here with "12 seconds to better golf" it gets challenged. The expectation is for you to respond to the challenge, to engage in a discussion. Some people don't like that. I do.

I've posted a few things where I was wrong. (I know, hard to believe right.) I've been set straight and I appreciate it. It sucks being wrong. But what sucks more is continuing to be wrong and spreading your wrongness around like its gospel.

So again, I say to you @KyleH I think you are putting too much emphasis on the mental aspects of golf. I would argue that the skilled golfer is better prepared to play than the unskilled golfer who takes 12 seconds before each shot. Let's think of it this way. If golfer A has the ability to hit 10 out of 10 shots into a 40 foot circle around the flag from 125 yards. And if golfer B can only get those 10 shots into a 200 foot circle, I don't care how much mental focus golfer B has. Golfer A is going to hit a better shot most of the time.

My favorite line is, “studies show…”. What studies? Can you cite them? If you can, why don’t you? Silly stuff.

It was in this one study one time but I cant remember what it was called, who wrote it, or where it was published.

Yeah ok buddy.

@KyleH Have you seen ‘ The Legend of Bagger Vance’? I’m assuming yes. So the inspirational scene where Bagger is telling Jonah to see the flag and disregard all else around him? The nice music as the green magnifies and focuses in….I’ve had that beautiful experience…..and then hit a solid, cold shank. I could just hear the sound of a record being scratched and stopped suddenly. It all took about 12 seconds.

Dude, this post is funnier than you got credit for.

I think @KyleH is talking about mindfulness meditation practices, based around Buddhist and Indian meditation. Where you try to focus just on breathing to get a sense of being present, and not letting the mind wonder to random thoughts that just pop up.

I do not think this is not applicable in a golf swing because we are trying to put mental imagery, and feel of what we want to do into our golf swing, to produce a shot we want. If you take time to just breath, you are already losing focus of all you tried to bring forward for that shot. You want absolute focus on the task at hand. Which, should have the side effect of taking away pressure because human can not multitask very well. We can only do like 1.5x tasks. If you are sitting in a meeting, if you are reading something you are only taking in about half of what someone is saying. If they are not saying exactly what you are reading. As long as your mind doesn't do, "OOH SQUIRELL" during your shot process, I think focusing on the shot at hand is very similar to focusing on just breathing.

That isn't to say breathing is not important. Studies have shown that we can breath in certain ways to increase or decrease our heart rate. Even though our subconscious mind and body reaction to stress will raise our heart rate, we can also influence that as well.

Slow breathing practices have been adopted in the modern world across the globe due to their claimed health benefits. This has piqued the interest of...
