Listened to episode 13 today while walking the dog - very interesting episode. A couple of things were not surprising, but a couple I was not expecting. You guys all seem to be settling into it too. Look forward to the next one 🙂

Like what? 🙂

I was surprised the alignment stick didn't get an S. Seems like cost / benefit / risk of harm is about as good as you can get. Assuming you don't hit the alignment stick with the club.

I also could tell there was a struggle with the caveat "without an instructor". It seems some of the training aids that got lower marks can be useful in certain circumstances with certain students. I liked hearing comments, about when it was useful. The format allowed a nice conversation about those situations.

Some of these would also make for interesting videos. Gimmick clubs are also fun (to me).

I assumed we'd have two S - the foam balls and the stick. Yeah. Tough to mess up, always handy.

Alas…

And, yeah. I like some of the training aids for students, but on their own, left to their own devices… people use them badly/incorrectly a lot.

I was trying not to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't listened yet, so I left it open. Unsurprising: swingyde and alignment sticks. Surprising: foam balls and heavy clubs

I did wonder about the alignment sticks and S tier. I think at least in part, the personality of the first person to go will dictate things. I bet if you'd gone first it would have been S, but sometimes people can be nervous to put their neck out there and go with S to have that wound back in afterwards.

Nah. 🙂 I was S all the way, but it requires unanimity, so… we were getting close to 20:00 at that point. 😄

Really liked E13. I’d like to hear you guys do more training aids too. Not to make it too jumbled but I’d be curious how the ratings would change if an instructor was involved with the device. Sadly I have to admit I’ve used every aid you reviewed….haha.

Good video. I like the idea of taking a break every 15-20 minutes. Setting a timer might be good. In agree on having feedback and exaggerating.

I really liked episode 14 - that was a good one. I listened to episode 9 for the first time late last week and didn't really follow it. I was out and about and my mind was wandering somewhat, so I definitely want to listen to that again. I got very lost with all the talk about green and red dots on the grip and how one of them is on top and one on the bottom or something like that. I'll listen again and if I still don't follow I'll come and ask about it here.

I couldn't get it in the moment either. He posted it on X or IG. I'll look for it.

Another good episode. I below its a skill to be able to find a functional swing between where you were and where you want to be. I am guilty of trying to do too much on the course instead of just playing.  The goal is to play golf better. Not turn a round of golf into a practice session.

I have this issue as well. I play in a bi-weekly league and I generally work on my drills and feels as I'm playing in the league...lol. But to be honest, they really do not affect me in a bad way too much. If anything, my irons are actually more crisp.  The issue comes in when I transition to the woods....so I try to find a happy medium there for the time being. But as far as bad shots go, they are no worse than they were before worrying about drills and what not.  Just speaking for my experience, obviously.

Another good one.

1. Slow Down
2. Have feedback
3. Do more with less with exaggeration

I like hearing what you three are working on and how you go about it.

In your experience what is the one counterintuitive thing about the golf swing that beginners usually cannot grasp without a professional's help?

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
