Do you guys follow the NFL draft?
I do.
Feels like Cleveland should have just taken the best player in the draft (Travis Hunter). But this is what happens when you trade 3 first rounders, plus 40% of your salary cap for a guy facing 24 counts of sexual assault and who plays roughly half of the games.

The Browns can't wait for 2028 when they will finally be rid of the stink of DeShawn Watson.

The long play for sure. It may turn out to be the smart move, but the potential is definitely there for Browns fans to lament it.

Jags ought to have a heck of a WR duo with Hunter and BTJ running routes. I'd just be worried about him getting hurt with this fixation on playing both ways.

I think this is a logical fear.
I heard one NFL coach say he should play full time wide-out and then play nickel-defense only. That prevents him from having to play in too much run support. Mostly passing downs and what not to limit the damage to his body.

I think it is fine. At a certain point you will realize you have gotten too old, not in player ability, but in contracts. At a certain point they will need to dump off some expensive players and rebuild a bit. I feel like they are projecting out and getting picks. If they really wanted the best DT in the class, and could trade down three spots, and get a haul of draft picks for it. I think it's a win for them.

I am not big on Hunter. I don't think he is a game breaker WR like Justin Jefferson or Chase. All the highlights were him making contested catches against weaker opponents. I am not sure he can separate. His route running is not really polished. I am actually glad Cleveland traded out of that spot.

That is a fair take. He wants to be a WR in the NFL because it pays more. The NFL is all about being a master at your craft. If he becomes a liability because he can't master either, it might hurt him. I think after a few years, he will just play WR.

Overall, the draft is everyone copying the Philly game plan, draft defensive tackles.

From an Ohio State fan perspective. I like most of the OSU players went in the latter half of the 1st round. They wall went to teams who are pretty good.

This is a pretty good take on Cleveland.

Do you think they should or shouldn't grab a quarterback in the 2nd round? If so, who?

I think It boils down to what Browns management thinks of Sanders. If the long play is the idea, building up other positions makes more sense than drafting a quarterback you aren't sold on. Let Flacco and Pickett hold down the fort this year.

@iacas What’s your take on Sanders getting rolled in the first round? Some aren’t surprised…some are. I was surprised Dart got picked before Sanders. I know those guys see stuff we don’t…I was a bit surprised he was passed.

I don't have one. I couldn't care much less about the draft. I don't care about sports much in the off-season: I care a little about my teams in the off-season.

I'm not an NFL fan. I'm a quasi-Steelers fan.

Shedeur freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fallin'. I'm definitely on board with the "Shedeur is bad" takes. Am I right? Dunno.

Milroe's still there. I feel like he has way more upside than Shedeur but again, I could be wrong. He seems at least as good as Malik Willis to me though.

My physical therapist loves Will Howard but he went to Ohio State so his opinion can't really be trusted. He any good?

I would put money on Will having a better NFL career than Sanders. Mostly because he is a fast processor and his mental game and leadership is top notch. I think that translates better.

I have to confess. I figured somebody would grab Sanders in the second round. He isn't perfect by any stretch, but so often NFL teams reach for quarterbacks.

I only saw one Colorado Game last year and I watched it in a restaurant/pub/bar place. I have to say I thought Sanders was good. He looked accurate and his O-line was terrible. ... I mean really terrible. Kid was running for his life the second he got the ball in his hands. My thought is that quarterbacks who play behind bad O-lines in college sometimes may make better pros. They get used to having to make quick decisions, and throwing the ball with guys in their face.

A lot of folks are saying his slide is because of his dad. I'm not sure if that's true or not true. I've also heard that next year's crop of QB's is supposed to be really good, so teams feel like "Hey, let's wait until next year."

The draft is kind of a crap shoot anyway. It’s a guess whether a player is really going to bloom in the pros. It reminds me of those kids I went to college with who were high class rank and 800/800 SATs and flunked out freshman year. College FB is a lot different than the NFL.

The 2021 Ohio State WR room!

they are on a stretch of 4 straight years with a round 1 WR taken. If they get on next year, then they will get one the year after. If they get to 6, it might be a record never broken. They already hold the record.

Yea I admit too I had more of a 2nd round evaluation on him, where I wrote in my notes "Maybe Geno Smith" after watching a couple games. Too many screens, too many sacks, awkward throwing motion at times, low velocity at times. Too low.

At other times though I thought he made some nice throws, hence why I thought he should've probably gone around round two. So to me the free fall is surprising to an extent, but of course, it all makes sense now that he's still sitting there. He probably bombed his interviews too, and I know almost nothing of his personality. I love sports betting, hence why I love following this stuff, but there's only so much I can know from the outside looking in.

But yea, my 2nd round guess was smart to an extent, but also bad now that he's still on the board and it's pick 4.17 at the moment.

I see. Thanks for the take, I know you watch every game of theirs.

I just watched some of the Penn State game and can see both the upside and why he's still available. But I can get on board as well that Howard has more upside than Sanders too. Tougher competition, showed some growth from K-State to Ohio State.

I guess the question marks with Howard are processing and accuracy.

Yea especially for us as fans. We don't get to interview these guys or talk to their college coaches to get a better idea of what they'll be like to work with everyday. We don't know who will end up being more durable and whose body will just naturally break down over the next few years. Some guys are great talents who go to terrible situations too, who are poor system fits in failed regimes. Other guys hit the jackpot with the perfect role on a great team in a weak division. There are so many variables.

I am pretty sure it is this. Word probably got around. The reports coming out now is that he bombed some interviews, and when pressed about it during the interview just basically had a horrible response. His attitude is crap. There are stories about him throwing his players under the bus at Colorado. I get it, he's not playing behind the best O-Line or have the best weapons (outside of Travis Hunter). That is bad leadership, bad attitude.

Also, it could be his dad as well. Who would want Prime Time chattering.

Go watch the playoff run. Four top 10 teams. He was elite. The Penn State game happened with our starting left guard shifting to left tackle and going up against the 3rd pick in the NFL draft. He had two big mistakes early. The pick, which looked to be a defensive play call to trap that RPO quick out, and then the fumble off his knee. He won the game besides that.

Um... The Browns? ... hmm....

I really don't have any issue at all with the Shedeur Sanders pick in Round 5. If he doesn't work out, fine. It's a fifth round pick on a quarterback, no big deal.
What I'm fascinated by is the Dillon Gabriel pick in round 3. I heard a lot of folks said that Gabriel might not get drafted at all. Seems like they could have waited and still got him if they wanted him.

What I'm already sick of is people saying the Browns have 5 quarterbacks. They don't. Watson won't play in 2025 due to his torn Achilles. Ideally, he won't play in 2026. But they can't cut him. They will actually have to pay more against the cap if they cut him than if they just lock him in somebody's basement and forget about him. Think about this. In the last two seasons The Browns have had 6 games where their QB has thrown for over 300 yards. ... None of them were named Deshaun Watson. Three 300 yard games by geriatric Joe Flacco and 3 by mentally unstable, Jameis Winston. ... Including Winston's almost 500 yards against the Broncos.

Deshaun Watson sticks out loud! I'm hoping he never suits up again. The Browns can just pay him for the next 3 years and then maybe he'll go away. (73 Mil against the cap in both 2025 and 2026. And then 27 Mil against the cap in 2027... sheesh.)

So, The Browns currently have 4 quarterbacks, not 5. I'm not sure any of them are worth a pile of rat droppings. But if not, they got 2 first round picks next year. Then in 2028 Watson's contract will finally come off the books and they can stop paying that waste of a uniform and move forward with whom ever ends up behind center.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.

    • Yes, but you don't live in the UK, so you have no idea what we think about it here. It's a very different mindset here, to demonstrate the fact you should consider 9 out of 10 games we play here are Stableford, whereas you you almost solely play medal. Neither is right or wrong, it's just different  I'm trying to avoid swearing here. Once again, and for the 1000th time, I understand the system, I just don't agree with it. Is there anything wrong with that? PS, I do not have the time or patience to post my results, especially as they prove nothing  That's because 99% of the posters are Yanks
