Ok, is it me, or do advertising firms think that the only people who watch golf are 59-year-old business executives on the verge of retirement, who also happen to suffer from erectile disfunction???

I swear, I feel like I can almost predict the next commercial during a break. Cuz there's only 5!

That's funny..I think the same thing when I am watching golf, that the commercials are geared towards people twice my age.

Yeah, that's the target market.

I started recording the LPGA for my son (4 years old) to watch so he doesn't have to watch that commercial with the kitchen sink faucet breaking and spraying water all over!

"ohh honey I had an erection until this silly faucet broke, he he he, lets snuggle while the house floods and my erection comes back"

the tourney commercials are lame.....but at least between infomercials there are some decent ads on the Golf Channel....for instance TGW's "Gimme" man. They need to make some more with him.

I realized the commercials were getting to me when I asked my doctor about Avodart.

I was 23 at the time.

American TV coverage of the PGA Tour stinks in general, IMO. I prefer the European coverage. Much less hype and BS and you never hear 'Get in the hole!' hollered by some fool.
The Masters coverage is the worst. I don't want to hear poetry, I want to watch golf...

My draw is your cut.

I thought the Masters was a nice break from all the commercials... I liked the segments showing the players when they were kids.

My 3.5 year old son was watching and I told him he could play in the Masters some day if he wanted to. Now I hear him putting around the house and talking (to himself) about "in the masters" and "putt for eagle" it is funny to listen to him. Better then having him sing "viva viagra" !!!

The commercials on The Golf Channel are so bad that I'm going to have to start recording the coverage and watching after it's been on for 30-40 minutes.

The ads for investment firms, e.d. and enlarged prostate meds are bad enough, but that new Dick's commercial with Justin Rose are really starting to grate on my nerves. And don't forget that horrid Slazenger Raw commercial. It's hard to believe that thing is helping their sales, but it must be since they've been showing it for months.

I totally agree with the commercials are tired and worn out but the other thing that bothers me is during the coverage when they whisper all the time. I know you need to keep quiet for the golfers but why you can’t just talk normal if beyond me. I am not saying louder just normal it is possible can still talk normally and softly.

I never understood what that moron is doing turning on the faucet when he should be nailing his wife!

I gotta admit though, I like the Pinnacle ad with the guy and his friend, Ted Snuggle-bucket (or whatever!) who has a good short game but can't hit the ball very far. And the cobra ones with David Feherty! But wait till I've seen them 500 times. Then I'm sure I'll hate them as much as all the others. Why do ad companies do that??!!!!??

Let's face it commercials are lame and a nuisance any way you cut it. But, I gotta say, commercials for prescription drugs are just wrong. They've got the whole country going to their doctors and prescribing for themselves. And while we're at it, how 'bout that warning about the 4 hr. erection........I'll bet that sells a lot of viagra

Wait, what about the Phil look-alike commercials or Phil's Fans meetings? Or are those the new round tables?

Look up 'priapism' on wikipedia. This is NOT a condition you want to experience!

    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
