I play standard length at 6'0 tall and they are perfect length for me.

I'm 6'6 and went from a +1 2* up to a +1 5* up, changed my game completely. Now this is no joke, the 1st round I play them after bending them 5° I had a flip PW from about 80 yards on the first hole, 2 bounce chip in! GET YOUR CLUBS FITTED!

I'm 6'3" and play +1 1/2" (not very long arms for my height), 1° upright. Like others who have posted before, getting fitted was the best thing I've ever done for my game. (Even better than lessons. You have to practice those. )

6'5" tall and play the clubs in my signature line.

Were I forced to replace them today then it'd be with custom fitted X20Pros with the the steel shaft.....about as close to them as I can find on the market.

Custom fit is important when you are tall.

i think it's great that everyone who has responded here is over 6'0" tall. I'm 6'2" and the +1 inch is going to be great when i get my clubs fitted next season. Now, it's just a matter of WHICH irons i want to get. Thus far, possible choices :

Bridgestone Forged J3 Combo
Nike Forged CCi
Titleist AP2/ZB/ZM's...not sure which of the three
Cobra CB or CM's

my sig says it all, and im 6'½"

i not only simply tested many different combinations of length when i was shopping for my new irons, i got fitted, and also used fitting charts from a bunch of different sites. my fitter told me to go with +½" but most charts said standard length with 2º up. so with that i tested lengths ranging from standard to +1" and +¼" produced the best results, and felt the best to me.

My first set of irons beyond the starter set I was given are the Nike Sumo's. They've made the game much more enjoyable for me in terms of getting the ball in the air but even more than that, these are about an inch longer than standard. I'm 6'3" with fairly long arms.

I'd like to know what the other taller guys did before they got longer clubs ... I used to hate having to squat/crouch when hitting shots!

Btw, I just saw a 3 minute clip of Stewart Cink (6' 4") giving some instruction and he mentioned that his clubs are all standard length ... I didn't know that and it is somewhat relaxing to me b/c despite being fitted, I always feel like I struggle to get my club down to the ball on my irons.

It's not surprising that Cink uses standard length shafts - it's not always about the length, the lie angle is more important if you can get you body/back at the right angle at address.

I read somewhere before that Nick Faldo (6'4") and Ian Woosnam (5'6") used the same length shafts back in their hayday - interesting stuff considering their height diff.

Anywho - for me, i got +1/4 inch and 0.75* (blue dot) upright, though I think i'd get +1.5* upright if I was getting new Ping irons. I'm 6'1/2". Fitted myself on the Ping website, went to my Pro and he recommended the exact same set-up.

5'8 or 5'9, I think I've grown, but not since the fitting. My irons are -1/2".

I'm 6'2" ans use +1" on my irons. Std lie, but I think I read somewhere that for every inch you add to the club length you actually make it 2* more upright? Idk for some reason that sticks in my mind. In any case the difference is amazing......get fitted. Oh, and the +1" will add 5+ yds to all of your irons - at least it did for me. Unintended result, just something to watch out for, fyi.

I am going to go get myself fitted for some new clubs sometime soon. I'm using a set of standard length Dunlop blade irons I've had for 3-4 years right now, they ain't cuttin' the mustard.

Lets say for some reason after you bought the clubs you decided you wanted them a little shorter, can they cut/shave them down a little or does this mess up the whole fitting of the club? Worst case scenario but I was just curious.

    • Played 9 yesterday at Rowley Country Club. Played a scramble format with my brother as my teammate and shot a 40 together. Wasn't good enough to beat my friends but had a great time. Had a decent few shots highlighted by a 174 yard 4 iron to 8 feet. Missed the birdie of course lol. 18 at Pease today.
    • Some great stories here. I'm more inclined to remember good wedge or iron shots than putts. Here's a few that stand out in recent memory.  #17 at Elizabeth Manor (my home course): Last year at Schaubach Cup. It is the toughest par 4 on the course. Long, uphill, OB on both sides, a large bunker guarding majority of front, another lining the right and a steep fall off on the back. Par is always a great score here. Needed a two putt to go in to flight playoffs. Good drive and a decent 7 iron put me on the green but left a long meandering 45 feet carrom putt with green rolled out to 12 on stimp. All but guaranteed a 3 putt for anyone who knows my poor distance control. This one felt good right from the second I walked up. Saw the six-ish break, and executed almost perfect speed and line for the best tap-in I've ever had. We made the playoffs and lost on the second hole eventually but damn that putt felt good! #14 at EM:  North-South (Ryder cup knock off with our sister course Williamsburg GC). This was one of those 30 footers where you putt up a ridge and let it fall off. Higher you hit, more it breaks. Anyway, read both line and speed perfectly aaaannndd executed to drop it from the side door. Demoralized the opponents and soon after shut the door on them the next hole. They had a chance until then. I had felt like I had turned the corner on match play prowess earlier last year.  #17 Stoneliegh, Round Hill This one was with @DaveP043. A 25 footer from a high shelf to a low shelf, where the putt required to be placed just at the right pace up to the precipice of the upper shelf for it takes the slope to anywhere close to the hole. Had been putting decent all day on fairly difficult greens. Dave gave me a good line and spot to nudge it up to. I took and executed for a birdie! Made it even sweeter since I had just birdied #16. #5 at the 6-hole Par-3 course at Belmont, Richmond: Was having a bit of fun with @iacas. Had a match going with him for a soda. Had to make par from 5 feet to tie him going into the 6th and final hole. The greens had heavy aeration holes so it wasn't exactly a skill test. Anyway, I pushed a nervy stroke for the ball to rim out half an inch away from the hole. On most normal the ball stays out, but lo and behold the large aeration hole cut on the edge of the hole comes to my aid and tilts the ball back in the hole!  I don't know what was more satisfying, the putt or the look of annoyance/disgust on @iacas's face at the ensuing run off celebratory dance. 😂. He managed to save face by beating me by a stroke on the last hole but man that was a fun day!
    • Its not. They are just giving an example in a situation say if cant reach it. Example, You have 230 to the center of the green, you cant hit a club you have that far, so you whip out a 3/5 wood or whatever, but you have to hit it soft because there is trouble in front of the green, a bunker or water. A full swing would land you in the trouble. You want to lay up as close to the green as you can. So you aren't hitting a full shot with that club so for distance tracking you can make that shot a provisional and it wont affect the distance stats.
