I like Chamblee! Or maybe I just like his name...

Feherty however should have his own show. Put him and Micheal Collins on the same show and It will be comedy gold.

Yep.

okay, I rest my case. That was a good article.

I must be missing something if a lot of you guys like him, i probably just need to watch more of him to grow a liking.

I think Brandel Chamblle is a jealous person especially towards Tiger Woods,Brandel is a one time winner on tour over 15 years of playing profesionally and his big moment of having the lead on the first round of the Masters, bottom line the guy is a douche bag and is jealous and people that are jealous, never are happy and unsuccessful and thats a Brandel Chamblee man his name resembles douche bag.

This post almost sounds like you don't like the guy. Having won a PGA Tour tournament may not sound like a big deal but it does put him into an elite status in the golfing world (just playing PGA Tour golf does actually) especially compared to the opinions on this forum. The one thing I do respect is that he hasn't wavered about his stance on Tiger like some have lately.

John is entertaining to listen to on the 19th hole, I think. That said, he seems like a real ass in person. I had a media pass all week to the Ryder Cup in Louisville and rode the media shuttle to the course from the parking area and again back to the parking area at the end of the day. I sat right next to John one day on the way back to get my vehicle and he went on and on and on about how shitty the parking and shuttle service was for this event. It was the worst he's ever experienced he said. (I'm paraphrasing here, but that's basically it). He didn't shut up the whole ride.

It really wasn't difficult to understand; the bus driver was waiting until the bus was full before he took off. Wouldn't be very efficient to leave 30 open seats.

ok just watched the state of the game show last night.

BC make an ass out of himself and i also realized that i have been a bit harsh on nick faldo because he seems like a nice person...

But i think i have figured out what i cant stand about Chamblee, Johnny Miller, and Faldo some of the time, along with a lot of these other analysts.

1) They talk as if the players and the coaches have no idea what they are doing.

2) They talk as if they know better than the players and the coaches.

3) They are predominantly negative when critiquing the players.

Now keep in mind that these are the best players in the world, not junior players.  They should understand that there is a reason that players and coaches decide to do certain things in certain ways.  They should not try to spend their credibility points on trying to showcase how smart they think they are or what they know.  And most of all it would be 1000 percent more useful for anybody watching to be shown all the good and correct things the players do as opposed to the reletively few mistakes they make in a game that is definately not easy to be played perfectly.

I find myself being bored to death with a lot of golf announcers stating the obvious. I agree that BC can be overly negative and condescending when referencing other players that have had more success than he has, that being said: I have no problem with Chamblee because even though i might not always agree with his opinion, I respect the fact that he always has one that he stands by and believes in it. Thats better than nothing, makes for good TV.

I personally like Brandel Chamblee and his commentaries.  But I can see how he might upset a few people at times because like Johnny Miller he speaks the truth as he sees it.  Ss to his golfing abilities, I agree with earlier comments that anyone able to get their PGA card and even manage to win one tournament is someone that knows more than I about the game.

I agree with you as well about BC having golf credentials and knowing more about the game than I do.  What I'm not sure about is how much of his commentary is based on his knowledge of the game versus wanting to be a controversial figure that garners coverage by other media outlets and threads in golf forums.

I'd hazard a guess that we don't have even the foggiest idea how much we don't about golf at the PGA Tour level.

Whether Chamblee has a self-promotion agenda isn't even debatable. They all do. The players, commentators, caddies, sponsors, the PGA Tour, The Golf Channel - all of them. So much so that it's just par for the course.

Regarding his trashing of the Foley / Woods experiment: now that it's obvious he wasn't wrong, shouldn't people be apologizing to him rather than continuing to trash him?

Yeah... that's not obvious at all. The guy's played like ten rounds all year.

But as others have stated in other threads, being good at something doesn't qualify one to teach. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to say it doesn't qualify one to analyze does it? I can make up my own mind/opinion with regards to a player or tournament. I do not need a has-been bespeaking the obvious. But it does make fodder for the golf boards.

And I don't buy the 'best in the world' comment about the pga players either. They are just the best ones with position or money that managed to get there. With some money I could flood the tour with my players, just like the Koreans did to the LPGA tour. But I digress...

I am sure he is trying to be interesting and keep his job but not sure he is trying to be controversial.  I don't know him personally but just what I see on TV.  Somehow he doesn't come across as self serving to me, but rather just being open about his opinions and letting the chips fall where they will.  But he is an interesting fellow in any case and has an interesting history.
