Id probably make a kick-butt range with numerous distances, nice shaped greens that are undulated and fast, and bunkers, so I can practice every shot I want.

Ray Floyd's Playing Lessons from the Pros was shot on a facility that he designed/built. Three holes of golf, each of which could be played as a Par3, 4 or 5 along with a killer short game area. That's what I'd do, for sure!

I'd second this, except I think I'd limit it to one hole with the tees to make it a par-5, par-4, or par-3, and with a great short-game area.

I'd save the money - invest etc and use the $$ to "practice" all over the world at great places like St. Andrew's, Pebble, Whistling Straights (to name a few).

Not necessarily. Look at the red tees on many a par-5. They're moved forward to be a reasonable similar distance to what we're facing, relative to our expected hitting distances. At least, they should be.

There's one hole at a course I play semi-regularly that is par-4 for red & gold, at 280 and 300-something, and par-5 for white and blue, at 460 and 480 or so. There isn't 200 yards of tee box between the blue and red markers. The red tee box is just off to the side of the fairway.

This would actually be pretty low on my list of things to do if I had a lot of money. Though a little practice area at home is something I would like even now. I live in an apartment so I don't have a garden or any place to practice at home.

But a little patch of grass is really all I ask. I wouldn't want anything more, even if I could afford it.

I agree with the person who said they would just use the money to play at top courses all over the world. I would be more likely to do something like that... Though if I really had a lot of money I might quit golf altogether and take up a new hobby such as: collecting sports cars or sleeping with models all day.

It's one of my life goals to retire early with 500+ acres in the middle of nowhere, Kentucky.

And I'd put up a nine hole course (18 if finances allow). Nothing too drastically expensive, but a local track with good placement of sand traps and reasonably fast greens. I'd say tees from 2,500 to 3,500 yards (red, white and blue). Lots of risk-reward situations but nothing completely impossible or unreasonable. I'd want to it be tough but fair. Oh, did I mention a set of MP-67's, 2-PW, with Project Rifle X 6.0 shafts?

I would build a par 3 hole with a couple of tee boxes so I could vary the yardages. The green on the par 3 would double as my practice green with a bunker. I would also have a well marked off range.

I've always said that if I had the money I would design and build my own course. I would have to win the lottery for this to happen, but there's always a chance.
