Man i use to love watching greg norman play when i was younger. before tiger appeared greg norman was the man. then he kinda phased out and no one knew what he was up to.

no he comes back and is leading the open. AMAZING. who whould have thought after problems in his personal life that he can come on the biggest stage and perform so well.

I hope the shark wins, just a great player and great character.

I was really pulling for him, but as in the Master's about a decade ago, I was left disappointed and saddened for him.

I would not be so sad for Greg Norman the businessman and his business empire that he has built.

He had low expectation but he sure was in the hunt.

It was fantastic to see him contend again. I can't wait for Augusta next year now. I think top 4 at the British Open will qualify him (I think it did in the past anyway)

I agree, he still isn't a closer after all these years........some things never change

I was not surprised at all. I would have been surprised if he had won. I was hoping he could get it done as it would have made a fantastic story but the final day unfolded exactly how I expected. It was asking alot for Greg to be able to close the deal in the Open after not playing nearly enough competitive golf over the last 10 years to keep his mind/game sharp enough to win a major. Overall I think he did a great job and it was fun to watch him contend.

Was so nice to see Norman get back into contention for a major. He was my favorite golfer growing up.

Nice to see the old fellas, my two favorite players, Norman and Rocco being able to compete still.

as much as i like greg norman as a person, due to my catholic faith and his getting a divorce, i have to condemn him

I was lucky enough to be at The Open this year and I watched Greg on the Tues and Wed practice days and I wrote back to Australia telling people that he would be in the hunt on Suday afternoon. I saw him hit some shots on those days that none of the other players were seeing. The other younger players were all trying to pure the ball up against the wind and stop it in the right spot where Norman hit the ball about 10 feet high all day and rolled it up around the right spot on the green. Very three dimensional golf which fellow Australian Peter Thomson used to win 5 Opens. Unfortunately his laid back attitude which allowed him to shoot the low scores on the first three days tightened up on Sunday to end his chances. It will be interesting to see if he accepts the exemption to Augusta which everyone wants him to do! Every Australian at least...

Ganja, surely, as a Catholic, you have to forgive him, not condemn him?

BTW - I'm a divorced and remarried Catholic. Check out the Rules - it's allowed in certain circumstances!

The Shark had another nice finish at The Senior Open.

He didn't play that well the first round and I believe after two he was something like +5, but he turned it around on the weekend and ended up posting -2 for the tournament and finishing T5th.

I think we were supposed to hear from him today whether or not he wanted to play in the PGA.

He's not going. I don't blame him though. It would have been his 4th straight tournament, which would have been tough. Tired mentally as well. I hope he gives the Master's one last try however.

    • Day 558, May 13, 2024 Drove for 9.5 hours. Installed a new mailbox after removing the old post that the tree trimmers knocked over. 😛  So… did a little mirror work in the patio window.
    • I don’t think that’s even relevant to the debate. Jack didn’t have that upbringing or training …and that’s just part of the equation that favors Tiger. Tiger didn’t have the luxury of playing against weak fields. Jack didn’t have the technology for training. All part of the reality. Just like those who might say Tiger’s injuries took away what could’ve been even more wins. So what? He DID have injuries and that’s the reality.    I think the argument’s been made very well that taking what they each accomplished IN TOTALITY, Tiger has by far the greater accomplishments. Put aside all the could’ve/should’ve/would’ve/ factors and just focus on what was actually done. How well did each golfer perform and against what opponents? Tiger easily wins this.
    • May 13/24. Day 60. Technique work into the net working on weight shift and club face control. It’s a fickle thing.
    • I'm not going to be "SMART" on my reply. I was in and out of the hospital since the first week in December with complicated Diverticulitis.  Lost 30 pounds, a lot of muscle mass. First week in April I finally had surgery, where the doc took out about 18" of my colon. So my goal is simply to PLAY GOLF.  Was at the range today for the first time.  Felt great to swing a club. Had zero distance...only hit my 7 iron about 140 yards. Will be great to be out on the course, but I have no expectations of lowering my handicap this year. People, be grateful for your health and ability to play.
