I personally am a huge fan of Tiger's. He's a great ambassador, he's been the best thing for the game since Titanium and graphite.

But, he didn't play. I agree with everyone else. It really doesn't matter. He was injured. Its not like he's yachting with his wife and kid on the Pacific chillin.

If he played, he wouldn't have made it, because its not been long enough since his surgery. That's the way you have to look at it. You can't say, "What if Tiger was healthy?" Its just a different world.

IMO he would have been on an big upswing as far as confidece goes. If he was a little healthier I'd say 50% chance he would have done it.

Considering Tiger just said that he doubts he will be able to starting swinging until 2009, then there was no possible way for him to win the PGA this year. And I don't want to hear you meant if he was healthy, he wasn't so it doesn't matter. You only have to beat the field that is entered. Brace yourself Tiger fans, he may never win again.

Would Tiger have won the PGA? If he was playing (which he wasn't) he could have won it; just like any other player in the field.

Harrington is playing as well as Tiger does (albeit TW is capable of some genuinely extraordinary things) and if they'd been fighting it out in the Open I defy anyone to think that (honestly) Woods could have played better shots over the home stretch. PH's last USPGA round 66 was pretty decent and given his run at the end of the 3rd round (66 again) I think TW would have had a Hell of a job shaking him off.

Bottom line, TW wins less than 50% of the Majors he enters so you'd have to say that most likely, even if he was playing and fully fit, he wouldn't have won.

No I'm not joking. Hell, he could never play again. You don't know how he will recover, how it will effect his swing, what type of pain he might have to deal with. Injuries alter and end sports careers all the time. Dottie Pepper had to retire at the top of her career with a shoulder injury. Even after surgery there was too much pain to be able to put in the practice time necessary to be able to play at that level. Who knows, Tiger may even lose his desire after being home with his wife and daughter for so long, anything is possible. To assume that he is going to come back at next years Masters and just pick up where he left off is naive.

You never know, you are right. Ken Venturi won the US Open and 3 other touraments in 1964, yet had to retire from the game less than a year later when he developed a circulatory problem in his hands. Golf is such a game of preciseness that many "minor" ailments can derail a career.

i'm a huge Tiger supporter, but this thread is pointless and will cause nothing but headaches.

Who really cares? Paddy won and that should be the end of it. If Paddy can manage to bash Mr Woods' other knee hard enough then he's a chance of catching up. It's nice when something good happens for the Irish, they've had a lousy time of things throughout history.

If Tiger had been there, had been healthy and was playing well, he would have easily won.

I don't think Paddy shot 32 on the back Sunday by "screwing up"

Tiger was not playing, so this is a hypothetical debate..who knows and who cares. Its like saying if Ben Hogan were alive and fit and well and of prime golfing age would he have beaten Harrington?- it s a silly question (but the answer is probably yes ).
