The irons I have, have very strong lofts so each iron is basically the loft of one iron below it, for example: the 4 iron is really the loft of a 3 iron, 8 iron is the loft of a 7 iron etc.

The distances above indicate what I am comfortable hitting each club without any roll from a very good - perfect lie.

I have really good clubhead speed with the driver (105 MPH+), but I have never been able to hit my short irons anywhere. That isn't really a problem as long as I know how far they go, but lately they are even going shorter than ever. Can't figure it out.

I play only once a week and practice on the driving range just 30 minutes before the round ...
I hope that next year I will have more time for golf ...

Holy crap you guys are good

this is mine more or less.

I need to work on many things but driver distance is one of them. I hit an old Birdeye calloway diver 11 degrees but only because I haven't found a new one I like. Although I did try the Ping K15 and liked that but out of my price range. Perhaps in a few months.

Here you go... SW 60-80 AW 90-100 PW 110 9I 120 8I 130 7I 140 6I 150 5I 160 5W 170-180 3W 180-190 1W 200- ?? These are the clubs I'd use for the listed yardage. Guess you could call them "average distances". Smitty

Right now I'm hitting my clubs a lot less further than in the warm weather, but that's to be expected I guess when you play in December/January and it's only 35 degrees out!

Driver:     230 now, 250+ summer (Burner Superfast 2.0, 10.5 loft, stiff flex)

3W:         200+ now, 220+ summer (Burner Superfast 2.0 TP, 13.5 loft, stiff flex)

3H:          185-200 (Burner Superfast)

4H:          175-185ish (Burner Superfast)

5i:            165-175 now, 175+ summer   (irons are Burner Plus)

6i:            155-165 now

7i:            145 - 155 now

8i:            135 - 145 now

9i:             125 - 135 now

PW:         115 - 125 now

GW:         90 - 115 now

SW:         up to 90 at most

LW:          60? maybe?  I always get in trouble if I am trying to see if I can hit this devil of a club any kind of distance, I usually just use it for short around the green.  I am realizing that these lists are so vague, when I first started golfing I was all about how far I could hit each club but now I know that there are so many variables that go into each shot....i.e. wind, lie, temperature.  I've hit a 9i as much as 160 before and have also used a 9i to try a shot from just under 100 out because it was windy and uphill.

after re-reading my post I felt it necessary to point out that I am NOT a good golfer nor a narcissistic self worshipping prick.  It is so much harder to convey humor through text. :)

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
