Varies depending on the weather. Usually it's shorts of some sort and a t-shirt. If it's cooler or very early in the morning, I might wear hiking type pants. I occasionally wear jeans for practicing, but I find them to be a bit constricting. I recently picked up a pair of tennis-shoe style golf shoes. Usually wear a Red Sox baseball hat, unless they're in playoffs with the Angels when I switch it for my Cubs hat to save some grief.

I wear plus-4's (Americans call them "knickers", in error), with a tam o'shanter cap. Over the years, I have purchased 14 pairs of plus-4's, with colors ranging from solids (like black, white, beige, red) to Scottish plaid (they are wool and were marketed by Payne Stewart Enterprises). In tournaments, I get many favorable comments. Usually, I am the only player wearing them. But, I wear them because I like them. As Payne said, when I put my golfing clothes on, I feel like I am getting ready to play well. If I go out to practice, I wear shorts or pants and look like everyone else. And I feel differently. Also, with plus-4's, I feel tied into the "old-timers", like Gene Sarazen, Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Harry Vardon, etc.

Here is a footnote: the day after Payne died in his tragic accident, I went to the golf course and wore black plus-4's, a white and black shirt, a black cap with white shoes and socks. A friend came over to me and said, "You are wearing black. Very appropriate. You did this for Payne, to honor him, didn't you?" He knew. I started wearing them after seeing Payne on TV in the 1984 Las Vegas tournament that he almost won. I thought, "That is a different look in today's world, and he looks pretty good." Within a few months, I saw that the Head Company was selling them on a close-out, and I bought 3 pair for $15 each.

usually a polo with either jeans or shorts and my baseball cap to keep the light out of my eyes. nothing special, no jewlery or glasses and I like to keep my pockets empty. Sometimes when I'm shifting my hips, I'll throw a few balls in my back pocket with a wallet and tighten up my hip turn, but I don't really like clothes that bind.

Depending upon how warm it is, I go with either a nice sweater or vest and khakis and if its warmer I go with a polo shirt and khakis. For a hat I normally wear a baseball cap with some golf-related company on it (Bridgestone, Mizuno, etc...).
Every once in a while I will break out my Tam O-Shanter cap and plus-fours. (what some people refer to as, "knickers", like what Payne Stewart used to wear)
Jeans, t-shirts and cowboy hats are kind of frowned upon by most golf courses.

I have many polos from courses I have worked at over the last year, made by adidas, nike, and under armour, but I really like these new half zip mock polos that I have made by adidas, they are a camillo/sergio style european look. Very lightweight, keeps you cool. Match those with thin tommy hilfiger slacks and its perfect for anywhere between 60-110 degrees. I dont wear shorts on the course....ever. Toss in a white belt to match the white shoes and white cleveland hat, and Im set to go. During the cold I have three different colored long sleeved under armour that I wear if it is chilly. Maybe a wind shirt. I too like to keep my pockets light, I only have my glove in back pocket, a divot repair/ball mark combo tool, and two "zero friction" tees (one for drives, one for par 3's, they are plastic and do not break!!!)

I wear what's appropriate for the weather and the venue. With the bickering that other thread caused, that's all I'm going to say here.

Well, I guess if there was ever an appropriate time for jeans on the course, it would be that one, on the ranch called the cow pasture.

First, (off topic) I had to read this post three times to even get the gist of what you are saying. Please in the future attempt to write so that it is easier to read.

To answer your question, I wear appropriate golf clothing, meaning a collared or mock turtleneck golf shirt and docker type shorts or pants. In the middle of winter I wear jeans on occasion if the course is muddied up.

I try to wear khaki or black shorts or pants and short sleeve polo shirt that looks nice, but if I am just going to the range, anything goes. The kids enjoy dressing the part when we all go as a family, even if it's only to the range.

I love looking good. I'll try and dress up as nicely as I can. I mean, hey. If you can't play good (which I certainly can't), why not look the part?

Usually a thin adidas or nike polo shirt if it's warm, and if it's cold I just wear some underarmour under the thin shirt. I don't like wearing pullovers or sweaters but when it get below 50* out here I usually have to were some sort of thicker clothing. But this week it's been REALLY cold for typical NC weather, so I wear a pair of thin pants under a pair of larger sweatpants, and multiple layers of underarmour under a fleece pullover... gotta do what ya' gotta do

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
