Well i got my first lesson last week, my coach told me i should consider taken up basket weaving....

Why isn't this posted to the thread you started a couple of days ago about the first and second lessons? Why start a new thread, suggesting that your "coach" told you to take up basket weaving, which is obviously not true, or at least not honestly put in context, or I'm sure we would have heard about it in the other thread which is plenty about the same first golf lesson.

Sorry to be cranky, actually I guess I'm not sorry, because you are looking for pity and I'm not going to bite. Will there now be another thread started about the second lesson you have also already reported on? Will there be one or two threads about the third lesson? Will you stop taking lessons? This is starting to sound like the end of a Bullwinkle cartoon.

Does that mean you are a basket case? you proably just need to weave along with your progress in golf by working on your short game.

I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. I just thought i would give everyone a good laugh, or just put a smile on someone's face. That's my character, to make jokes about myself, not someone else. I'm not feeling sorry for my self, by no means. I just think it's funny when i go out and i can hit a shot that's so fat they have to call in a backhoe to come repair my divot. (Laughing) you guys should see it. The dirt, mud, everything is flying in my face when the wind catches it. It's priceless......

On reflection, not sorry for bringing attention to the issue, but I am sorry for the way it was put. So my sincere apologies to Boeing.

In regard to the "cop" comment, if the thread isn't tagged "please note I'm starting a new thread but this really relates to the one I already started", I'm going to read it, making the logical assumption that it is something new. If I have a comment, I'll make one, and we can debate the merits of multiple threads on the same exact topic, but that seems pointless. Obviously, it's ended up back here, so some thought was given that this is probably where it belonged.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
