I awoke this morning to learn that after drinking and talking golf with buddies all night, I must have gone upstairs and bid on a driver on ebay.

I discovered this morning when I received an email that said "Congratulations you've won a Taylormade R7 Draw Driver!"

Luckily, I think I got a pretty decent deal. It's used and I got it for $85 and that includes shipping. It has a Fujikara tour platform shaft and is in good shape.

Just a warning that ebaying and drinking can be dangerous!

haha, i bid on an mizuno mp fli hi 3 days ago. I sorta wanted it, but wasn't 100% committed on using it. I woke up the next morning to my dad saying, "i got a email saying that we won a new utility club!". I only paid 40 bucks for it, which is good. I am interested to see the results it gives me, who knows...it might even replace the 3 iron.

it could be worse - I ended up bidding on and winning the *hammer*. I also didnt realize it until the next day when I got the email. My wife now locks the car windows on the way home from the course and wont allow me on the phone or the computer after a round anymore. (yes there have been other issues after rounds for me)

Funny, bidding on Ebay is not even the most dangerous thing that can result from a blackout. I'm sure that the friends of Bill W who read this post could attest to that.

LOL

I did the same thing on CigarBid.com It's a cigar auction site run by Cigars International. Anyway about 5 Jonny Blacks later I placed bids on 5 different boxes of smokes. I place low bids figuring i would get outbid, but might win one or two. Nope I won all five boxes. I have plenty of storage space for them, but the wife was not pleased when I told here I just bought about $500 in cigars. I did get a hell of a deal, but I slept on the couch for a while.

In my bag are

EWI....that's too funny.

At least you are only out $85.....you could have gone nuts and bought a Circle T putter or something outlandish.

Sounds like it may be a solid deal anyway. Good luck.

I read the title to this thread and just nodded my head, knowing exactly what you mean......

LOL, but not that I regret it, because I really don't, but money right now is at a premium for me but I got a little happy one night and just pulled the trigger on the Taylor Made Itsy Bitsy Spider.... brand new on Ebay for 145.... (its a 200 dollar putter)

It's not so much the money thing, that is a factor and all, but I already have a Scotty Cameron putter! haha.... but I just wanted a mullet style putter and just said to heck w/ it and got it....

It'll be here tomorrow too, but still..... the rest of this week and next I'm going to have to watch my pennies a little extra harder....

lol i thought i was the only one who did this. I swear half my set was purchased while me intoxicated. My current studio select, a couple vokey wedges, my driver shaft, fw wood, and one of my hybrids was purchased in the wee hours of the morning after too much drinking. I like surprising myself in the morning with notifications of me getting new golf clubs! :)

    • It's really hard to argue against the Tiger Woods 2000 swing.  I like Rory's swing. And, I've always liked Joaquin Niemann's swing. Although, if I tried to mimic Niemann's swing I'd probably end up in traction for 2 months. I was kinda bummed when he went to LIV cuz I almost never see it anymore.  At the other extreme, I can't look at Bryson when he plays. Even if it's very effective, it's coyote-ugly to watch.  I'd rather watch Charles Barkley than Bryson. ....
    • Thank you for that information,I would have loved to see him in person
    • I think he was always kind of like that - he hit it off the planet relatively frequently throughout his career. I saw him play a couple of times. One time at Walton Heath in the European Open. He was playing the 13th on the Old (dogleg right par 5) and his drive had gone through the fairway and found a patch of grass in the woods there to the left (the woods have now gone). He had an opening to play back to the fairway. Maybe 25 yards to reach the fairway and 65 yards to run through the other side. He was maybe 230 yards away from the green, but the trees made sure that was not a viable option (at least that's what I thought at the time). He pulled out a pretty long iron - probably a 3 and gave it a full blooded thrash. I watched this ball come out straight for about 40 yards and then it just turned hard left, but stayed in the air (still not sure how he did that). He started the ball at a point that must have been 100 yards right of the green and hooked it basically that whole 100 yards and the ball wound up on the front of the green.  Shotmaking he was pretty much peerless. Not sure his swing was ever technically solid. Flowing and fun to watch yes, but not one you'd want to copy.  As to the question, I have heard a few people suggest that Mickey Wright had the best swing ever. Frank Nobilo had a pretty sweet looking one. Bruce Lietzke's was pretty cool - he managed to maintain PGA Tour playing rights with basically little to no work on his game - got to be a lot said for that.
    • A lot of us on this forum are hyper competitive, we just know not to break things that don't belong to us! that is why I stated "a person with a poor attitude grows up with no consequences" it is not all entitlement.
    • Yea, it is a cult following. Especially with the YouTube golf personalities using them. They did great marketing in a space that not many other golf clubs are getting into yet. Especially for putters.  I tried them out at Golf Galaxy before; I can't stand them look of them.
