I saw a few people mention the callway red and blue's, they have these on clearance at my local walmart for 11$ a dozen, is it worth it to pick up a box or two?

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Maxfli Fire balls... they have been under $15 a dozen quite some time, sometimes $9.99 and play very close the the NXT Tours. I have about five dozen left from when I stocked up at the 9.99 price, and I might just pick up another few dozen if I see them anywhere. So technically I don't miss them yet, but they are getting harder to find.

I also miss the old Starta Tours and Taylormade had a nice cheap ball about 10 yrs ago, but I don't recall the name.
My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

back in high school i fell in love with the maxfli revolution. cheap, durable, great feel. in my opinion, those damn balls were better than the titleist professionals back then. i'd take a rev tour over a pro v1 any day, but sadly they don't make them any more.

wow, i cant believe someone else loved the maxfli revolution. that was easily the softest ball i've ever played. the slightly off yellow look to it was lovely as well when i found it. you could never find a completely white maxfli revolution. loved that ball.

So it seems a lot of folks like the old Callaway Blues and that Dicks often has older balls in stock,,, So one should check their local Dicks for Blue Balls?

In the 60s I played a Maxfli ball that had a circled green dot on it. I thought that was so cool. They also had balls with red dots, but I really loved those greens. In those days about the only thing we knew about golf balls was high compression (professionals only), medium compression (most recreational golfers), and low compression (juniors, women, the elderly). To this day I mark my ball with one green dot.

yeah... the Maxfli Revolution was my first thought when I read the title of the thread. At the time, it was one of my favourite balls.

A couple others I remember going way back.

If you liked Greg Norman in the '80s... you at least tried that ball. They weren't very expensive either

Titleist professional and the original Strata balata

Ditto for me.  The original urethane covered Revolution was the most softest ball I've played.  I loved that feel off the putter face.

now, i buy recycled balls and find them at night on a particular hole where there's always plenty of pro v's and callaways. it always amazes me how people will pay so much for golf balls, knowing full well they can't hit the ball straight, but i guess i can't complain cause they provide me with great balls!

    • Congrats on the improvement. Cheers for lots of continued improvement in the future. IMO you've gotta get away from these spots… Those are partly "results" as the work will begin on things earlier in the swing. Good luck.
