Please dont flame me for this cuz my handicap is 19 and Im thinking about these irons... My handicap is 19 because I get up and down 1 time every other round and I putt 37 times a round...

That said, these 2 models are not blades right? How do they rank in forgiveness on mis hits?

I really like the look of these irons and the less offset as I am starting to be able to work shots when needed.... and I HATE offset lately, causing me to hook.

I will demo them eventually if Mizuno ever gets down to florida, just trying to see your guys's initial reactions...

Or should I just stick to the MX 200's?

Would the 52 or 57 be more forgiving? From what Ive read it seems the 52 is more forgiving...

Thanks!

Have you considered a split set?

There are A LOT of tour professionals who do this.

An example:

MX-200 in 3-5 irons
MP-52 in 6-8 irons
MP 57 in 9-PW

If you have your set special ordered direct from Mizuno they will usually do something like this.....no questions asked.

I plan on doing this when I get tired of my Ping I5's.

P.S. Who cares what anyone else thinks, if you feel you can hit them then go for it.

I found that I just didnt get the height/length that I needed with Forged blades, I ended up going with the Pings for this reason...I would rather have forgiveness and durability over feel....just my preferences.

Good luck with whatever direction you choose.

The MP-52's are nice clubs I am a big fan of them. The MP 57 are nice clubs aswell however they are slightly more blade-like. If you like the MP 52 cb's then go for it. If I could afford them at this point I would purchase a pair and my handi is significantly higher than yours.

Just to add the clubs I use are player's cb and I'm perfectly content with the forgiveness.

I haven't hit the 52's, but I never liked the look of them. I like my MP-57's a lot. I was about a 15 or 16 handicap when I first got them, so they certainly aren't out of your range since it seems you are improving overall.

12 handicap and feel irons are my strength. Moved to a set of MP57s after Ping G2s and lost about 5-8 yards per club. Feel as if distance is more consistant with the 57s. They are pretty forgiving as long as you put a decent swing on it.

Main reason for switching was the offset on the G2s

I got my MP-57s about 1 year ago when I was a 30 index player, I am now a 20, so at a minimum the clubs aren't *preventing* me from improving. They're probably helping, but that's hard to prove. I like hitting them, though, and that's something that's easy to prove! I play them from the 5 Iron down.

I was in the market for a new set of irons until a few months ago, and I considered both the MP-52s and MP-57s (I also liked the MP-62s, but they're not available to lefties). I went with the MP-57s for two reasons: first, I think they're a (slightly) better looking club -- in particular, and as pointed out in the sand trap .com's review, you can see the cavity in the MP-52s in the 3- and 4-irons at address. I found that a bit distracting; second, I liked that the MP-57 heads are (slightly) smaller than the MP-52 heads.

Honestly, the differences between the two are slight. You should be concentrating on the shaft that you're going to play. Given the point you're at with your game, I think you'll find that'll be far more important than deciding between the MP-52s and MP-57s.

Wow, thanks a lot for the inspiration guys!!! I want to stay away from pure blades, but I like the fact that these clubs have cavities and less offset than the GI irons..... didnt realize teh 52's and 57's were that similar.

I think they will benefit my game more than a true G.I. iron... I'd really like to "grow" into my next set.

CG- thanks man, your part of the reason why Ive dropped like 10 strokes from my HC!

Shafts huh? Ive just figured I'd play the TT that come with the clubs, in stiff flex.... guess I will go to a fitter and see what he thinks before I buy these clubs...

Im gonna hit them some more at golfsmith and wait till the new mizuno line comes out, might save a few bucks!

Thanks!

The MP-57 are nice clubs and I much prefer them over the newer, MP-52 in terms of aesthetics, workability and feel. I don't care for the 52 much at all. Not sure if either would be a good choice for you. Don't get me wrong, I think Mizuno makes great irons, I own two sets of them, but you really need to hit as many brands and models as possible. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the new Adams Idea Pro irons. You might check those out too. Good luck.

The MP-57s are great for that - as are most players' cavities.

FYI: not extremely likely to save the money. I don't think I've seen MP-57s come down in price, even after the MP-52 came out. I don't think Mizuno irons really drop in price.

Thanks for the input once again! Shindig, thanks for reinforcing the 57's along with everyone else! Im gonna head out to golfsmith and hit a bunch of the mizunos, just to get a better feel for what I want.... I'll hit other companies too, but I just love the look of mizunos!

Say I hit the 57's and the MX 200 identically..... Which would you guys opt for? This is assuming I hit them equally sweet.

I'd also look at the MP-62's. I liked them the best of the 52 and 57's.

Just a quick point. The MP57s have MORE OFFSET than the MP52s. Maybe that whole hooky thing is your swing, not your clubs.

Well, I know its my swing partly, I do know that, but the big offset in my irons is also closing the face more than I'd like..

Ive also finally started to learn how to shape shots, and I can do it to a degree, but that offset really kills most of the shaping.....

I cant really hit a nice knockdown shot because the big oversize cb's send the ball REALLY high into the air..

I'd like better trajectory and more shot making abilities even if it takes me a few months to get used to them..

Like I said before, I want to "grow" into them, ya know??

But yea, I still definitely need to work on some things in my swing, but then again, who doesnt?

good point. well from a looks point of view, of course i think the MP57 looks better. Here in the uK, there is a price cut at the moment at online retailers on MP57s. Not sure if it's in the US and if it is, how long the price cut may last, but if i hadn't just bought my i10s a few months ago, i would snap up the 57s purely for the price.

Yea man, I just went to golfsmith today and hit the 52's and 57's again. I REALLY like the 57's a lot. I think I may pull the trigger this month or next!

I just found out my swing needs a lot of help, (read my post in playing tips) but I was still hitting these irons nice and solid. (98-104 swing speed with 6 iron) I really like the feel of them and I do think I can "grow" into these rather than grow out of a G.I. set of irons.

I think 57's are my choice so far, anything else from other companies compare to these irons? Mizuno has a good reputation, thats why I have been demoing these the most, but Im open to all suggestions...

Thanks guys!
