CG-14 wedges vs Vokey wedges

Is there a big difference in these two brand of wedges.
I have the Clevelands but I'm always looking for a excuse to change clubes.

from a wedge test done by golf magazine, vokeys spin more. But the CG has a higher launch angle and higher peak height.

Its all you, i like both cleveland and vokey, but vokey bites more.

I owned Vokeys until about a year ago when they were stolen. Grrrrrrrr. I got a deal on some CG14s earlier this year and didn't like them at all. The Vokeys played better for me, I thought. Again, I priced around and found my 588s. They actually play much like the Vokeys did. I'm much happier with them. Vokeys are incredible clubs. You can't go wrong.

I have a set of each. In the CG-14's i have a 48,52,56,60 and in the 09 vokeys I have 48,52, 58, and 64. The vokeys definately spin more, but you cant discount the spin from the CG-14's. Aside from a little more bite from the vokeys, the club face is a bit more smaller than that of the CG-14's. I started out with the CG's and ended up playing the vokeys, so the transistion took a round or two to get used to the smaller face. Overall, both excellent wedges. My only concern in the long run is the "gel pack" or whatever cleveland calls it that is built in to absorb shock. But on second thought I am sure the face will wear out before the gel pack dries up...

i have a cleveland and vokeys and i must say... vokeys are the most solid wedge ive ever played but the cleveland is right there with them.. vokey def bites more.. my cleveland hits and sits.

The Vokey SM bites more than the Cleveland CG12 or CG14...

The Scratch SM 8620.... bites more than all... They actually spin too much.

i would have to agree.. the spin milled do actually spin a little too much thats why i have a 58 and try and avoid making full swings as ill be picking pieces of my ball out of the grooves. but for around the greens they are a dream... i dont even know how they are legal. well.. i guess they almost arent anymore.

I actually have both ... I have a 50* & 56* CG-14, and a 60* Vokey.

Alot of people talk about how the Vokeys spin too much or chew up the ball with pieces in the grooves ... but I don't notice that. I rarely use my Vokey 60* for a full shot ... mostly short sand shots & shots from the fringe or close to the green when I don't need much roll.

The ball seems to actually check up & stop more with my CG-14 ... but that's probably because I'm taking bigger swings with those clubs. I use my CG-14 when I'm farther away from the green so I take a larger swing than with my 60* Vokey.

Both were the same price for me ... so that wasn't a determining factor.

I just bought the CG14's after demoing them vs. the Vokeys for a round. I'm not much of a backspin kind of player usually, so the CG's worked well for me, as they seemed to launch the ball higher, and still stopped nicely on the green.

A friend of mine put his Vokey out to rust in his practice bucket, and swears by his TaylorMade TP wedges instead. I think it's all about what feels good to you.

I love my CG14. Anything within fifty yards and you can bet I am putting it close. It doesn't spin as much as I want to, but I have been more than happy with the control I have shown with the CG14. They are both phenomenal clubs and I really think it is a matter of preference.

i work at dicks sports and i have been looking at those cg 14s, i think if i needed to i could shave my face before a round those grooves are that sharp. but my vokey will be hard to give up.

I actually like the Clevland 588's better than the CG-14. Had the 588 for a couple of years than got the cg-14 and hated it. Went out and got the vokey and its still in the bag. I think the 588 is still better than either one of them.

i have a some of each. cg14 52 8, 60 12 and vokey 52 08, 56 14, 56 11, 60 04
i use my vokeys at courses where the greens are firmer and its gonna take more spin to get the ball to stop but i hit my clevelands so high that they really sit.
it all depends on the game you like to play, i like to use alot of spin making to ball come back to pins taking ridges out of play. the vokeys are perfact for that type of game.
the cg14s will stop with less spin so if you cant spin the ball as much the cg14s will still stop fairly quick

I wish i would have just stayed with my cg11 and gotten a 52 from them instead of my new titleist, I bought into the hype around the vokeys and spent all that money on one and now Im kicking myself, its all up to you, check em out and see what you like best
