There is a 130-140 yard par 3 at a local course with a pond in between the green and tee box. It is about 2.5-3.5 feet deep and I go in once or twice a year. With about 3 hours work I usually get between 800-1000 balls. I'll never hit 'em all but I keep going because I get about 60 pro v1, and about 150-200 other pretty good balls (titleist, nike, etc.). The rest are just for hitting at geese and stuff.

I Unfortunatley always get my ProV1X's at my club.. $54.99

Hybrid: Rescue Dual 16 degreeIrons: 735CMWedges: Vokey 56 and 60Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 34"Ball: PRO V1X

I play the Maxfli Black Max... and stocked up when they were discontinued. $20-25 a dozen. Pro V1 high numbers at ~40 is another ball I play. I prefer a "unique" ball that people won't think is theirs.
Cleveland - HiBore XL (9.5* Fuji Fit-On Gold Stiff)
Bobby Jones/Jesse Ortiz - 3W & 21* H3 (Stock Stiff)
Ben Hogan - Apex FTX 4-FW (Apex 4 shafts)
TaylorMade - rac TP 56.12 satin & 60.6 black
Scotty Cameron - Mil-Spec Newport 2 (33" standard)

For me it really depends on how I'm playing. Since I live in Montana, I don't golf for about 5 months over the winter (there's still snow on the course now). Every year I go from hitting a high draw at the end of the season to an awefull slice at the beginning of the next year. So I always start out using a low spin ball (Topflite Superstraight) for the first month. It helps me control the side spin, and costs a lot less to slice the ball into the woods. But once I'm back in rythym I play either PVIs or Nike One Platinums. I lose distance compared to the Topflights, but the high performance balls hold the green so much better!!

i was using the nike mojo golf balls because they were about $15 for a set but i like the new juice balls. For some reason they seem to help me work the wind here in Tucson a bit better.

Last season I was using Nike Mojos and the occassional ProV1/ProV1x when I found them. This season I am using some Nike One Platinum's that my brother-in-law got me and I like them so far. He is using the Nike Juice and likes them a lot.

The price of golf balls is somewhat rediculous. I mean, why do they need to charge so much for golf balls? Now it's 45 dollars to get Pro v1's...So stupid.

I get Titleist DT SoLo's or the Srixon Soft feel, both of which are $20/per dozen...it's not too bad. You feel like your playing a good ball out on the course, yet not spending a rediculous amount.

I get free Pro v1's when I play in high school golf matches, so I get my "expensive" balls for free there. I won't be paying $45/per dozen until I am under a 5 handicap.

Econ 101 - supply/demand curve. Plus, you know, they're not exactly inexpensive to make...

Cheap?
I would probably use the ball washer on the first tee at the Masters!

I love Srixon soft Feel.

I've been using the Nike One Platinum (the '05 edition is about $10 less than the current ones) and Srixon Z-URS's lately. The Titleist NXT-Tour is also one of my favorites. So, anywhere between $26.95 to $39.95.

Golf balls are like beer......when you're in college everything tastes great. Twelve pack of Pabst and you're ready to go. You get older and start to distinguish a great difference between cheap beer and good beer.

When you start playing golf whatever's on sale at Wal-Mart or whatever you find while looking for your original ball will do just fine. Later on you realize a Top-Flite just ain't a ProV1.

I usually try to save money by buying logo overruns.

    • Two things… QuadMAX Comparison I conducted a test with the R50 against a QuadMAX. I just did ball data, as getting club data on both simultaneously proved difficult. But, I was able to work around the conflicting IR signals or whatever others were experiencing. I'll make a video eventually, but the short-term info is that the R50 was really, really close in VLA, ball speed, total spin, carry, peak height (the last two are just algorithms of course). It was decent at HLA and spin axis.   R50 Club Impact Video Is anyone else as annoyed as I am that the video includes like one or two frames of impact and after, with like six frames before impact? The before impact stuff isn't all that useful - and the after impact stuff isn't enough to see the club twisting much except on egregious heel or toe mishits.
