This weekend could be it for us MN golfers, anything after Nov. 1st is golfing on borrowed time. During the winter I work on 5 footers in my living room and sometimes chip balls at my couch pillows. I don't like hitting off of mats, so I don't go to dome unless I'm going golf crazy. I try to schedule a March trip to the desert once I get the itch again. One thing I think is great about MN golf is that every spring seems like a whole new season.

Got a dome that's 80 yards long about 5 miles away. Will go there twice a week Feb - March and wonder if my drives would have sliced. Actually, my best scores are usually in April, after the discipline of hitting many balls in a dome.

This year, I hope to start a tradition of an annual trip south in January. I'm retired and got the time.

From Nov-Dec, I jump out onto a course if the weather permits in Chicagoland. A year ago, it was 70F on 11/1 and we played that Monday. A few days later it snowed and that was the end of it. This year, I have already played twice in November and am scheduled for tomorrow. That's almost as much as we played in October.

I have a shed that's pretty good sized in my back yard. I'm trying to find some place to put our lawnmower so I can try to set up my practice net in there and buy a mat and continue to swing. For short game, I always putt/chip around downstairs on the living room carpet. I try to get to the nearest indoor driving range, but it's about an hour away. I'll try to get there a few times this Winter. But I'm playing until there is legitimate snow on the ground. I can handle sub-freezing temperatures. It'd be sweet for myself and 3 of my buddies to go down south for 2 days and play a couple times, but me being a 16 year old, it'd also be pretty expensive.

Most courses around here, NE/Central Massachusetts, close Thanksgiving give or take.
That leaves:

Lots of choices for indoor/outdoor/covered/heated ranges.
Usually play a few rounds on Atkinson CC's simulator.
Windham CC and Far Corners do their best to stay open year round (I absolutely love playing Windham in the Winter).
I have never gone down to play but I hear some courses on the Cape also try to stay open year round.
Also do what a lot of others have posted, putting drills, chipping drills, mirror work, ...

Never feel golf deficient during the winter, just the opposite, I rather enjoy the peace and quiet. Played today (Crystal), forecast was for snow flurries this morning and tonight, no accumulation, saw a twosome finishing the 18th when we played the 2nd and that was it all day

The wife got wii fit. I am going to try building core and flexibility with the yoga program.

I'd like to do a winter trip also.

Put the clubs away and wait for spring. All I'll do is putt on the carpet. I've played a grand total of one round in the months of December, January and February in my life.

Same here. On the rare occasion we have a good day or two over the winter I will play, but only if I don't have to pay for it. I hate to pay for a round of golf when I haven't played for a few months so nothing works and I suck. Sure it is nice to be out there, but it isn't worth the money for me knowing that it will be another month or two before I can play again.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

About 30 minutes from where I live there's a casino golf course with a peformance studio with garage stalls to hit in, or turn on the heater and hit into the cold (unless its snowing). Every Saturday I have a one and a half hour lesson there. Other than that I just play basketball and snowboard. Both are good sports to work on your core and arm muscles which helps for golf. Let me say this again. Snowboarding is a good off-season training exercise for golf.

Funny, I was just thinking about this this morning. I always head south for Thanksgiving and Christmas so I get to play a little there. I usually shut down playing about right now and start focusing on lessons. I'll start lessons again in December. The winter is a great time to implement swing changes. One thing I haven't figured out is how to effectively practice short game during the winter. This is where I need the most practice.

i have a putt machine thingy from sharper image. i set up a bunch of pillows on top of my bed and try to get on top of them from my floor with my wedge(it drives my wife NUTS!) and heated range i dunno if there is a dome around here but ill play until the ground is frozen. the heated place a i go to is

    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
