then thrown down a bet!   290 - 410 - whats the difference?   I will cover any bet you want

I'm still waiting for you to explain how that's a 400-plus yard drive that "flew the green".  You've made that assertion numerous times in this thread.  The video is posted above for everybody to see.  Or maybe it was on another hole?

Apparently there is a link between Borderline personality disorder and gambling.

I dont think he was watching the whole thing because it was 409 yds but thats if you play it down fairway and back to green.Bubba didnt hit it 409.More than likely he hit it 360 or so because he hit straight at hole over all the rough and bunkers.

wtf are you babbling about? I am talking about a 25% distance improvement in his drives in 5 years - A 30% improvement in club head speed! Sorry. That doesnt happen. Show me any sport where it does without peds and I will kiss your hind end in front of the world?   And the proof is that when baseball finally cracked down the stats went back to the way they were 20 years before.  Facts are facts.  Magical thinking is what people with magical thinking do.  I am out of here - not one of you is willing to bet me anything so apparently you are the same people who thought Brady Anderson has a good year when he went from 15 hrs to 55 - You are probably so naive you thought Canseco turned into the Incredible Hulk in a Gym in 5 years like Rory without PEDS!   Bye bye   I have been golfing for 50 years and I love the sport. I speak up because I dont want to see it ruined like baseball was. So you can just keep thinking that Rory, at 5ft8 is out driving a gym rat like Gary Player by 120 yards in his prime. When they finally have no choice but to crack down just remember my name and you should apologize. Gary Player knows better and he has the courage to speak up unlike the others who will see their sports demise.

Alright. Thanks for the drive-by incoherency.

Okay, so Rory was 21 5 years ago, now he's in his physical prime years which are usually from 25 to 30. Mystery solved!

Yes, Rory, noted slouch and guy-who-totally-never-works-out, outdrives guy-from-40-years-ago-who-threw-around-a-medicine-ball. I'm sold on your theory.

I picture Gary Player working out with the medicine ball, Indian clubs, and the trapezoidal weights with the big rings on top. He didn't have a handlebar mustache, though.

I'm new to golf but not PEDs, bodybuilding and powerlifting. I have been around all kinds of PEDs and I can say while they certainly could help a golfer to some degree it's unlikely to be any kind of epidemic. They just don't work that way. If being the most jacked guy around was what made for a fast swing we would see long drive competitors built like power lifters but that is just not the case. They are hit by a dude who is in great shape but isn't large by any stretch of imagination. So yeah, it might help you squeeze some yardage out of your shots but a few extra yards isn't what makes a tour winner.

Personally, I think an increase in testosterone could benefit the golfer mentally more than anything.    More assertive, aggressive and less doubt on the course.   Golfers aged 30+ are losing testosterone by the year.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
