Well my best ever was when I was off 28 I shot 11 better.

On a good day I can shoot 5-6 better
With the USGA system, you should only shoot your handicap one out of every five rounds.

With our system you should be able to play off your handicap all the time.

The only way that you would shoot your handicap regularly is if it is the same as your scoring average.

The USGA system reflects scoring potential, not average , which is why you shouldn't shoot to your handicap on a regular basis. It's calculated from the lowest 10 of your last 20 submitted scores. If you do shoot that low for several rounds, then your handicap index will drop and you will be back to shooting it on a 20% to 25% rate.

The RCGA system is essentially the same as the USGA system - I'm not sure what they use in Ireland (where James is from).

During the summer, from five rounds a month: I normally play a shot or two above my HDCP, have one really bad round, and then break 90 on occasion.

Focus, connect and follow through!

The RCGA system is essentially the same as the USGA system - I'm not sure what they use in Ireland (where James is from).

Q.1 Are all handicap Systems the same throughout the world? A.1 No, there are four main handicap systems used by Golfing Authorities. The system used in all golf clubs affiliated to the National Associations and Unions in Great Britain and Ireland is the Council of National Golfing Unions (CONGU) Unified Handicapping System (UHS). However, in strokeplay, all systems use the principle of deducting from the Gross score to produce a Nett score.

We use a different system I think.

We're meant to be able to score our handicap all the time or we go up handicap.

My ending index this season is 11.5, but that is unfortunately a bit off from what I am likely to shoot because of 3 exceptional rounds in the 70's in the last 2 months of the season. I'm more likely to shoot in the 85-89 range on my home course (3 to 6 strokes above my course handicap of 12).

The slope must be fairly low on your course. I have GHIN of 12.6 and my low round is an 84 - high 88 for the 10 counting scores.

before my accident... I actually was playing under my handicap... +3.5 is the best you can have according to the USGA... my last round before my car wreck was a 66 on a 74.3 course if that gives you any indication

Rating 69.4, slope 120 at 6500 yards from the middle tees where I play most often. Back tees is 71.5 and 127, and 7000 yards. It makes about a 2 stroke difference on a normal day if I play the backs. It's a nice course and it is generally in good condition, but the slope reflects that it does offer recovery chances for some stray shots... just depending on where you hit in relation to the trees or native rough. Water is only in play on 8 holes.

21.7, I score low 90s about once every 4 or 5 rounds. Mid to high 90s the rest of the time. Last round I couldn't break 100, was having a horrible day and lost 3 golf balls. Have never broken 90, but I think if I played more often I would.

I am amazed at how many people consistently play under their handicap.

Especially since generally your course handicap will be higher than your index.

My index is 25.9, course handicap at my home course is 31.

I will hit my course handicap maybe once every 8-10 rounds.
