What grips do you use and why? Looking for something new.

I need some new grips. Used the Winn Excel for year, too soft and wear out fast. Used the Winn Pci half cord this last 8 months, too firm. Seen the Lamkins and they look nice. Golf Pride, etc.. so many choices. I am working on an island (Nantucket) and it costs me $200 to go look at grips on the mainland. Making this purchase blind. Any suggestions?

Ummm john daly released some really nice leather grips.
they're expensive though (you can even get kangaroo leather lol)

I use golf pride tour velvet grips and I think they're pretty good.

i use Lamkin Dual Density Torsion Control, they are fantastic, especially in humid conditions.

Golf Pride New Decade in KU blue. I don't wear a glove and really like the feel of the cord grips.

Just regripped my new (to me) set of Ping G10 irons with Lamkin Crossline Blacks.
Really secure, solid feel and the price is not bad.

On my MP-57s I have Golf Pride new decade multicompound in Blue.
On my J36s I have Golf Pride new decade multicompound in White.

I have used the Golf Pride Multi Compound for the last season, I like them alot, draw back is colored front part gets very dirty, very fast. We usually play 2 rounds per day on the weekend in the heat all summer and I spend quite a bit of time cleaning them. Now later this year a friend gave me a Golf Pride Tour Velvet cord with the BCT Brushed Cotton Tech. and these are sweet. Put it on the 3 wood and it was firm but soft feel. All in all I will most likely re-grip when needed to the BCT Tour velvet. They come in Red and Blue

I had my irons gripped with Lamkin Crossline Midsizes last spring and pretty much hate them, they're terrible in humid conditions. I know they're popular, but I found them useless here in hot conditions, they would be slick just from the humidity.

I love Golf Pride New Decades, they're the perfect blend of feel, durability, and ability to handle humid/rainy conditions. I just hate the price.

I recently grabbed some of the Victory dual durometer grips from Golfsmith for $3/ea. They feel very good, but I can't really speak to their warm weather capability.

I'd love to get ahold of the grips they use on new Pings, the ones they put on the G15 woods, they feel great.

Same as many others said, Golf Pride's New Decade Multicompound. They perform well no matter what the condition. The Tour Velvet is nice too, and they're a bit cheaper, but the NDMC is worth the price for me. I don't think you could go wrong with them.

Golf Pride Tour Velvet. Excellent grips at an excellent price ($5 installed). I have my clubs regripped each season and this strikes me as the way to go. They aren't cords, but at a third of the price and regripping each year they are hard to beat (and while cords do last longer I don't see them lasting 3 seasons of heavy use).

I play Avon MTx4 Jumbo grips. They work great in the high humidity summers that we have here.

I recently got new grips for my woods - Winn PCi TL, midsize. I got a free one for my driver at a demo day and loved it so much I went and used a gift card to get ones on my 3- and 5- Woods. I like the firm feeling.

My hybrids have what I believe to be the stock grip for Nike hybrids of that year. I like the feel just fine and have no intent to change it.

My irons and wedges have Golf Pride for Mizuno M-21, which I believe to correspond to GP 58 round. I see no particular reason to change them, although the grips on the woods and hybrids are a bit more firm. I don't know if I want that on my irons/wedges.

I know I need to change the grip on some of my irons before too long, as they're wearing out, so I'll be watching this thread for ideas. Thanks for bringing it up.

Golf Pride tour velvet or lampkin crossline black. Why, because I am cheap. I like the feel of them and for the money, can't beat them.

Palying gloveless, full cord is the best way to go. 1/2 cord grips are a menace - get 1/2 cords and blistered frustration is surely in your future.

Mizunos - GP Players Softie wrap full cord (or something like that) - great grip, but they feel too dry when it's cold out (if that makes sense). I highly recommend these grips.

Hogan 1: Lamkin Crosslines. They feel good, but I've never played these in rain. Fingers crossed.

Hogan 2: GP Tour velvet full cord. The gold standard. Can't go wrong.

MacGregor MT - original leather. Mint condition. I don't play these in the rain. On a warm (not too hot) day though - very cool.

Woods - Lamkin mid size (too small = snap hook, too large = block)

Cleveland, Ram, and Powerbilt persimmons: leather - soo nice - they feel like putters.

I really like the basic Callaway Universal grip. Even regripped the X-Forged SW and the Slazenger 5W with these.

I have the multi in white and love them.As far as dirty I have a small wire brush and I use dawn dish soap and a little hot water once a week.Takes 10 min to clean and they are like new and I get a full season out of them.
