Just a heads up guys; I have been going through our group, and guys that have been inactive three straight weeks I have removed. I will keep doing this each weekend to clean house. We still have lots of active members in there though, so keep it up and good luck.

So I'm in two groups: the TST group (team name: The Dinker, currently in 8th place) and a small group with some buddies from my former high-school golf team. As some guys in that group have a tendency to forget to pick their players, I sent out this message on Saturday of last week:

Also, if you ... have a tendency to forget to pick you're [sic] players, click on "Team Info" under the "My Team" button and check one of the "Yes" options for part 5 ("Would you like to receive a weekly reminder of deadline dates via e-mail?"). That way, you shouldn't forget.

What'd I do this week? Forget to pick my players, of course ...

I played last year for the first time. It was a lot of fun...did fairly well early but sort of burned out later on.

I didn't get into it this year.

Not to burst your guys' bubble or anything, but you do realize that the majority of active fantasy golfers were using AK, Camilo, and Paul Casey this week right? Like, at least 30% or over 30,000 yahoo fantasy golf users. And that's a conservative estimate.

Hi guys. For those that joined late, a new segment begins this week. We are now in the spring portion, so everyone keeps their points for the overall season race, but starts from scratch for the Spring segment on its own. For those that joined late, or were inconsistent in getting a team picked for the winter segment, a good time to jump on in.

Same as the winter season, I will remove anyone who has been inactive for their third week in a row.

Top five from the winter segment were:

1. Go Golfing
2. Sandplay
3. Hopeless Hackers
4. Battlefield Promotion
5. bluenoser

Good luck to everyone in the Spring segment.

    • When I was in my 30's, I used to frequently play a course that was but 6400 yards from the tips, and had some pretty tight holes. I would often, especially on windy days, go all day without pulling a wood. But back then I could actually hit a 1 iron. Set was usually 1,3,5 woods, 1,  3-SW irons, putter. Seldom carried a 2 Iron, really never needed a 2,3 or 4 on that track, even the par 5's would be 1i, 1i  short iron or wedge. Now days I usually carry 1,3,5,7,9 woods and 6-P, gap, sand and lob wedge. I could lose the 3 wood, it's pretty much only used off the tee. But since I got the T300's, the 4 & 5 irons get played in lieu of the 7 & 9 woods on windy days, such as today will be, winds gusting to the high 20's. Tee time at 12:34. Long/mid irons I can actually hit consistently at 62. What a concept. Glad I swallowed my pride and got fitted into these....
    • Some years ago I was in correspondence with both the USGA and the R&A about French Drains.  The USGA were telling clubs that they should be defined as Ground Under Repair in Local Rules. The R&A were saying they were Immovable Obstructions by the then definition. After some toing and froing the USGA agreed. But I still suspect they are advising clubs to label them as GUR. Both bodies agreed that if they were grass covered they must be identified in the LR.
    • I started watching Heels the other day on Starz.  I wasn't enthralled by the pilot, but by episode three I thought it was carrying its weight.  It goes a little off the rails occasionally, but when the subject matter is pro wrestling, what do you expect?
    • My home course has a few drainage “channels” that are shaped into certain fairways that I suppose are intended to capture and then divert water elsewhere. Maybe a foot wide and 3-4 inches deep, but definitely part of the fairway. They’re not French drains or depressions from some subterranean drainage system. Just an unlucky spot for your ball to stop. Unless there is standing water in them, I’ve always just attempted to play the ball out, which can be a challenge.
    • These things have perfectly good grass in them. The grass is cut to the same length and there is no stones under the grass. There is no mention of them on the score card. I think my friend has it wrong. Thanks for the replies.
