Driver - B+ - Easily the best part of my game. Very few lost/OB shots.
Irons - B - Prior to the hybrids for 3 & 4, I would have given this a C or C+.
Short Game - F+ - Probably too hard on myself, but I stink compared to the full shots. Stink out of bunkers as well.
Putter - C- - Again, I stink. 3-putt at least once per round (more like 2-3), miss short ones, whatever. And then, I'll roll a few in from out of nowhere.

Good FIRs and GIRs, which keeps the scoring decent. I pretty much never practice. I golf 20-25 rounds a year and go to the range half a dozen times, but only because someone else is going and I'm usually there to screw around or help them with their full swings. Basically, I'm a good scramble player (always love the team tournaments). Lots of chances for birdies, but someone else is going to have to hole the putts. :) As a friend said, "You hit the ball like a scratch player, but chip and putt like an 18 handicapper". I don't know about the former, but sometimes I think the latter is about right.

Driver- C - I hit most fairways but I am a short hitter (215 yds avg)
Iron- C- Inconsistent, too many fat shots
Short game B- decent chipper
putter A- Best club in my bag, Scotty Cameron never lets me down
Overall game- C- I guess that is why I am a high handicapper!

Driver- D - No consistency whatsoever, leave it in the bag and tee off with a 3i is not out of the question often times.
Irons- A- - Consistently straight, but I need to do a better job judging distances, getting GPS this Season
Short Game- C - As long a the lie is good, I feel confident putting it on the green from 80yds and in, need to get better with side hill lies and tighten my shot group around pin.
Putter- C+ - Not much to say, just need to do better practicing.
Overall Game - C - Just an average guy, not tearing it up, but not stinking it up.

I have graded my play for last season as a C. Just could not seem to put a hole round together, whether it was bad driving but good putting, missing greans but then chipping in to save par. Very inconsistent year for me last year.

Hmmmmmm......

Driver : B-
Irons : C
Short Game : A-
Putter : A-

My handicap is over 10 so I have a hard time giving myself anything the A-, but I do feel it's accurate. Several of the low index guys locally have remarked on my creativity & success around the greens, and even when I'm the worst player in terms of index on the team, I always putt first or last (positions where the 2 best putters should putt) in scrambles.

How about a more thorough grading?

Driver - B+, usually find the fairway, decent length
Fairway woods - D-, not confident with these
Hybrids - D-, don't use these much at all, if ever
Long Irons - B+, solid enough
Mid Irons - B+, again, decent
Short Irons - A, pretty confident with these
Wedges - A+, always hit these well
Pitching 20-80 yards - D, a weak point
Bunkers, GS - B, always get out, but not that close
Bunkers, FW - C-, have trouble with loose sand
Flopping - B+, Can usually pull them off
Putting - A+, no problems
Overall - C+

Slice, slice, slice, slice, slice; worked on it for countless hours last season until I recorded my swing and realized it was a swing flaw. Going inside outside and pull slicing at least 90% of my drives.

Irons B+
I'm confident with my iron play and have been known to use irons off the tee for par 4's.

Short Game C-
Went from average to lously and not back up, definitely picking up Phil's DVD soon.

Putter B
On average I putt 34 times per round, which is just under 2 putts per hole.

Overall C-
I'm giving myself a low score because I have failed at fixing my problems over the past two seasons. Starting very soon I will be seriously training to become a single digit handicap, I have 3.5-4 months until the golf season begins.

Driver (B ) - Consistent, 56.8% in the fairway in 2009...would like to bump that up a bit in 2010 to get better looks at more birdies.
Irons (B -) - I'd say I'm about a A/A- with my 6-8 irons and about a C with the 4-5 irons so I averaged. Need to work on long irons without a doubt.
Short Game (A+) - Thankfully the best part of my game helping me get up and down when i need it (more often then not)
Putting (A) - Pretty good putting game, 1.28/hole in 2009...hopefully better in 2010
Overall (B -) - My overall game is pretty decent however its my course management skills that need to be worked on more.

Driver (B+) Can hit it pretty far, but misses aren't consistant left or right

Irons (A-) Relatively accurate and hit a consistant draw. Am able to manipulate ball flight when necessary. Avoid risky shots and often bail out to fat or middle part of greens. Sometimes have hard time holding greens. Could use a little more height on shots.

Short Game (B) Don't generate enough spin on shots under 100 yards, but have generally been a good chipper. Sand game is ok, can usually at least get on the surface.

Putting (C) If I could only putt consistantly, going to simplify my putting this season and stick to one putter & stance.

Overall (B+) Fairly consistant in my scoring, rarely go way low or blow up. Good player in windy conditions.

Short Game: B-, I love the short game.

Overall Game: C+, maybe I'm hard on myself.

Haven't played in several weeks, but the swing feels good as I hit into the net in the garage. Looking forward to getting out there.

    • Has anyone played around with "My Strategy?"  It seems they've revamped it -- I remember not liking the interface a while ago.  Today I went over a course I play semi-often and was able to designate a tee box for each hole, then choose a a club and target direction and it put my scatter pattern for that club off the tee, showing average SG for fairway / rough / bunker (if appropriate) / green.  I could change the club and see how another behaved.  It wasn't clear to me what I can gain from this, or where the follow-up shot supposedly originates, but it is neat to look at it on a map. What motivated me is that I'm debating taking less than driver on one of the par-4s next time I play this course, probably 4-Wood.  I have found myself, sometimes off of a good tee shot, playing my second shot from the tree line, as the fairway slopes strong left to right.  I don't think I've even had a near-GIR on that hole in 2026 (6 rounds at this course), and it's my second-worst strokes-gained hole, playing to an average of 5.3 for me -- the only worse is a hole where I've hit an O.B. en route to a bogey and also managed a triple bogey another round. Scattering my 4W pattern off that tee shows a higher strokes gained, but then again, hitting that club is far from a guarantee I won't fade it a bit and roll into the tree line, now further back from the green.  And I haven't hit a bunted driver in a while, maybe I need to practice that shot, but that isn't something this feature can show (since it doesn't know why my tee shots ended up where they did).  Then again, it might not know where I was aiming for my tee shots either. On a related note, I am finding their course analysis tool interesting, especially when I can sort by strokes gained average and also determine which hole(s) I'm playing to what stroke average.  Interesting that the #2 and #4 handicap I'm averaging under bogey, while 5-6-7 and 12 handicap holes I'm averaging over bogey.  The hole I described a moment ago is the #12 handicap.
    • Day 28, June 1.  Went to a course near me while running errands to practice putting.  I wanted to chip also but their chipping green was closed. I did my 4' and 6' drills (around the clock, but with the goal of making each putt twice, for a total of 24 from each station).  On the 4' putts, I took a total of 32 putts to sink all 24.  I'm very happy with the 75% make rate (scratch one-putt at that distance is 80%, bogey 65%). For the 6' putts, I took a total of 52 putts, for a 46% make rate (scratch: 55%, bogey 39%).  That's an improvement I'm happy with, and I'm aiming to do this drill once a week for a while, now that my putting (over the past five rounds) is better than the 10 hcp baseline (I'm a 10.7? 10 point something as I type this), which is far better than 6-7 months ago when I was losing strokes to the 25 handicap baseline (I really should write up what I did to improve over this time).  Amazingly, on the 6', there was one putt (approximately coming from 10:00) that I didn't sink at all in 4-5 passes and then was the only coin remaining, and it was face up.  I could've sworn it would break right, and I kept missing it left, and when I finally aimed straight in, I made two in a row.  Maybe it was one of those rare (?) double-breaker 6' putts.
    • This is feeling like the club is at P2. To get lower launch angles I have to feel like I’m dragging my hands through impact just delofting the crap out of the club.  This is trying to stop at P2.5. The consistency in launch angle gets worse. Contact gets worse.   trying to go P3, things get more volatile. The more I increase my swing length the more I can’t lower the dynamic loft.  Edit: these are with my 56 degree.
