So, has anyone been to the range yet this year in the cold states? My range in southwest PA usually opens around this time and I plan to ride by today to see if he's open yet. I tried to play over the weekend but, the course was closed and the greens were too soggy to even try.

Fingers crossed on it being open!

NY seems to be officially in spring now. My range down the street has been open since 2/22. Last week I was hitting balls into snow. However this week all snow is gone, the local course that stays open all year long weather permitting is open, and one of the nicer yet expensive munis opens this friday.

My local course's driving range opened yesterday. Spent a few hours out there. :) The course itself opened 24 minutes ago... Good, good things.

My range is open. They have last year's rocks and the winter curtains still up, but it was nice to make contact. Hopefully they'll cycle the rocks soon.

All of our snow has been gone for a week now (except for the piles in parking lots), but no ranges are open yet. If the weather stays dry, some ranges may open in a week and we might get a course open before April if we are lucky!!!

Sadly, my range was not open. There was a guy there hitting his own balls though (which almost made me go buy a bag of shag balls and come back). He said he spoke to the owner a few weeks ago and it should be opened soon. The guy that owns it is in Florida though all winter so, I don't know when "soon" is exactly. Oh well, I'm going to try and play this weekend.

We have a couple of ranges up here that are open year round with heated stalls. We also have a couple of indoor ranges that I frequented when the snow and ice was thick. Unfortunately, courses here probably won't open up till end of April/beginning of May! D'oh!

A bunch of courses here in Buffalo, NY are actually opening this Friday (the 19th), some even with cart access already. By our standards it was a pretty light winter with only 75 inches of snow...

My range is open year round but it's way too cold to play in the winter- at least by my standards. The grass range section and short game area isn't open until mid or late April though and they usually close that off in mid or late November.

Looks like I'll be relegated to mats for the time being. Not the end of the world though.

Home course opens this Saturday at 7:00 AM - booked Saturday and Sunday tee times already with some solid range time planned as well. Our area got ~6" of rain over the past 3 days, so plug and find will be fun.

this is precisely why i will NEVER live above the mason-dixon line. hell, i'll probably never live north of the gulf states. i would make a possible exception for s. carolina however, oh how i love charleston.
