This thread has motivated me to update our household budget.

Lately, golf has been a way higher priority on my list than it should be - financially and otherwise.

I'm gonna fix that.

I never realized how much some people spend on golf. but i must admit, if i had a lot more disposable income, i'd probably spend more as well. maybe we can get president obama to sign a bill mandating that all golfers have a right to the latest golf technology and the gov't can subsidize our green fees and give us a free case of pro v-1's every month.

This might have already been in the healthcare bill.....I heard they snuck a bunch of crap in there, and the bamster plays golf, so it's possible....besides, I'm almost out of my old V1x's I have laying around, it's almost time for topflite, LOL

When our president gets done with us we'll all be lucky to play golf.

$240 a month for membership
$13 per round for cart (usually ride weekends, walk weekdays), call it 7@$13 = $91/month cart fees
$30 balls every other month = $15/month golfballs

$346 minimum per month.

I also play about one other course a month to the tune of about $30 per round.
Add in tournament fees each year which add up to about $600
Golf glove about 3 times a year = $40

I imagine it averages out to just over about $420 a month realistically.

I usually save equipment purchases for birthdays/Christmas's, etc.

I don't know if this is a sensitive/personal subject, but on average, how much do you guys spend on golf related expenditures (clubs, balls, green fees, membership, etc.) per month? per year?

Where are you spending $250/month in Los Angeles?

I spend $125/year for membership, $25/year for an LA City Golf Card, maybe $50/month in range balls, and maybe $100-$150 to actually play, depending how often I get out. I am, of course, trying to get out and play more, so maybe that number will increase. I'm also a student in the area, so on one hand, I need to limit how much I spend, but on the other hand, I have more time available to me.

I probably spend around $150 on playing and $50-75 on range balls so maybe 200-225. The course I play the most is Brookside, sometimes pay full price, sometimes get good deals on golfnow. I also play Harding and Hansen Dam occasionally. I also like to hit up par 3's (arroyo, dominguez hills) and scholl canyon.

It hurts me to think about it, but here's my best guess. 7 month season here in Wisconsin

Yearly dues, minimums, etc (membership fees only) - $1300
Other local courses played throughout the year - $600
Tournament entry fees - $250
Golf trips (1-2 per year) - $500
Equipment - $500
Gas money - $100

= $3,250. I'd gladly double that if I could play more. Just don't tell my wife.

So far this year I have spent:

range balls $15 ($3/bucket times 5)
Balls $16
Strap for bag $10

Hopefully this will be the rest of the year:

Regrip two sets $206
Balls $100
Range $ 72
Green fees $405
Tournaments/ $250
Scrambles

For a total of $1,082 which is more than I thought!

well I'm a college student so I don't have any money, but I work at a golf course in the summer so I get free golf out there. I would say I play at least five rounds a month outside my course which averages to $250/month. Then I have already spent $100 on equipment (new S9 driver) and I would say a total of $750 this year for miscellaneous golf stuff.
