If You Were Tiger's Coach, What Would you Change About His Swing?

ludicrous notion, but is there anything about tigers swing that you would have him change?

my only deal is that it always seems like hes swinging too hard, mostly with the driver. you see him on the range, swinging nice and easy (for him) and just perfectly in balance, looks great.

I would advise him to just let it go. He cuts off his swing very often, which works with irons and the shorter clubs, but becomes an issue with his driver. I also think he should go back to his old right to left ballflight. Grip it and rip it Tiger, stop trying to be such a control freak.

I'd tell him to stop swinging with the trailer park trash and find himself a couple of hotties, preferably one on each coast.....set them up with a penthouse condo and a bank account with max per month withdrawal featurs (e.g., 15k/month)....if either of them says a word, the money and penthouse condo are gone.

That should do the trick nicely.....yes, may the occasional 3-some, but for god's sake bring in a professional and pay her very well for her secrecy....

Most the swinging hard thing. He can nail pretty much any club, but swings too fast and hard with the driver, getting into more trouble than needed.

Over swinging with the driver every fricken time when he can simply, groove a controlled 290-300 yard shot, hit more fairways and absolutely dominate even more than he does now. Heck, the guy can stripe a 3 wood 280+ and hits the fairway everytime with that club...like WTF man. Stop swinging out of your shoes and hit more fariways!! I love his game but just do not understand this part of his game.

Hands in, shorter backswing, and steeper shoulder tilt. Stop that flat Haney stuff - his shoulders with the wedges (and to less extent his hands) are steep and in, but he goes upright with the driver and hits the ball everywhere. He's stuck because his hands are out, and part of that's his shoulders.

Something Lee Trevino said recently comes to my mind. He suggested that Tiger put a shorter, steel shaft in his driver. He'd still have plenty of distance and would be in the fairway more often. I'd suggest he try this, and if it pans out, stick to it. If Tiger had, say, Furyk's driving accuracy, even if it came with Furyk's distance (he wouldn't lose that much), he'd be scarier. I think Mr. Trevino also said something about treating the driver as a club you hit a given distance, not a club you hit as far as you can. This works for me on my more accurate days, and I suspect it would work for a good player, too.

It's not really a swing change so much as an equipment change.

Not a lick of advice for his swing, heck I would ask him for his advice on mine. My advice would be for his personnal life climb back on that beautiful wife that gave you two wonderful children and stay out of the trailer park shorts (dummy) once he can get that personal stuff in check the golf part will just come naturally.

I'd have to learn more about the swing to judge his swing. I'd maybe work with him on his course management on some specific courses - get him to play more practice rounds with guys like Tom Watson and fewer rounds with showboats like Bubba Watson.

Yes, as a high handicapper I have tons of advice for Tiger. LOL.

No, I dont think I could give the best player in the world any advice on his swing. Hell, I need to pay someone to give me advice, and he's good, but he's no Tiger.

No personal life advice either. While I have never cheated on my wife, I dont know what its like to be Tiger, the most famous athlete in the world.

His tournament accomplishments are evidence enough that he needs no changes. His swing has changed over the past 15 years. His success in tournaments hasn't.

Take the golfer with the most fundamentally sound swing on tour. Then compare his accomplishments to Woods.

I'd try to make his driving more consistent. Phil could use the same help. I think if both guys would just back off their swing speed a little that would help. They could still hit it a mile but hit more fairways. My thoughts anyway.

Great point.

Since everyone is different, why is a "fundamentally sound" golf swing the best for everyone? If Tiger had Couples' swing, some would say he would then have a "better" swing. However, then he wouldn't be Tiger. You could plug a few other golfers in for Couples' name in that example, either current players or not.
